chapter five: don't stop evan now

Matilda was a fan of cassette tapes, loving the music flowing through the headphones into her ears, bringing a smile to her face every single time. She was quick to get Louisa and Evan hooked onto muggle music when they became friends and they too developed a love for tapes. Matilda grabbed her boombox from underneath her bed, rushing out of her dorm room and returning back to the common room.

"I've got it," Matilda yelled, gaining the attention of a few Hufflepuffs that sat in armchairs before they went back to their activities.

Matilda would usually be respectful of the other people in her common room but today was the day of Evan's date with Gabi and he needed a pump-up jam. He needed a muggle jam. Louisa nodded as she looked at Evan who let out a breath before nodding at Matilda who pushed in the tape. The soft piano and belting voice of Freddie Mercury came from the boombox, Matilda, and her friends smiling as she turned it down slightly so they could hear each other.

'Don't stop me now' played quite loudly causing a couple of Hufflepuffs to glare at them but the trio were focused on each other as they began to jump softly.

"Who's going to take Gabrielle Rosenberg's breath away by taking her on the best date ever?" Louisa shouted causing Evan to nod, running a hand through his red locks, a nervous look still on his face.

"I am." Matilda smiled before yelling.

"And who is going to be an absolute gentleman on his first date ever." Evan began to smile as his friends hyped him up.

"I am!" He yelled loudly causing the friends to all let out a loud cheer of support, a burst of loud laughter coming from between Louisa's lips.

The chorus erupted from the boombox causing the three to dance very badly, all of them getting pumped up. The giggled as they danced around before Evan stopped, brushing his hands on his mustard sweater and looking at his two friends who danced like absolute idiots just to make him smile. He knew he was privileged to have such a great group of friends to support him and he really would do anything for them.

"I'm ready." Louisa gave him a hug, still bouncing slightly to the music.

"Remember the advice I gave you." Evan rolled his eyes and chuckled slightly, wrapping his arms around her.

"Louisa, I think I know what women like." Louisa pulled away, a snarky look on her face as she pinched his cheeks.

"Yeah, but which one of us has been on dates with more women?" Evan rolled his eyes again and sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. He ignored the cocky look on her face and instead opted to look down at his feet.
