They had managed to evacuate all the civilians. None of their lives had been lost but that didn't mean everyone had been saved. Countless soldiers had been killed, being eaten by those things. Asta's best friend had been one of them.

Just when Asta was starting to think the numbers of titans were going down, more would stumble through that large hole. It seemed to be never ending. That no matter how many they killed, two more would take its place and even louder screams of fear and pain would fill the air.

But even though things seemed hopeless and most of the soldiers had fallen to their knees and given up, Asta would fight. He would fight until he last breath with his bare hands if he had to.

Armin had his back up against one of the house walls, sitting on the roof with his legs splayed out in front of him, a look of lost hope in his eyes. No one could get him to move. It seemed he had really given up and no matter what words Asta said, he couldn't snap him out of it but he would be damned if he left him behind. He was carry to safety if he damn well had to.

"Reiner." Annie said as her and a couple of the others stood on the edge of the roof a few feet away, looking at the destruction. "What now?"

"Not yet. We have to let them gather first." The tall blonde replied.

"It's no use... however you look at it, we're not getting out of this city. We're all dead. I mean, I'm ready to die and everything... it's just what am I dying for?" The words from the male soldier were sombre as he stared up at the grey sky.

Loud footsteps banged against the tiled roof and Asta looked to his side, seeing Mikasa running over to them with a desperate look held within her eyes. The sight of her made his mouth go dry.

"I understand the gist of the situation." The female spoke, approaching Annie first. "So I'm sorry for letting my personal matters interfere... but have you seen Eren's squad?"

Asta and Armin had been hidden away in the corner, so she hadn't seen them yet. The hope in her voice was crushing and the others looked at her with sadness.

"I haven't, but some squads did make it over the wall..."

"Mikasa!" Asta called her name and she snapped her head towards him with a gasp.

"You're not hurt, are you? Are you alright?" She asked, looking between the both but the burning question of where Eren was was on the tip of her tongue. She leaned down in front of Armin when she noticed his persistent shaking. "Where's Eren?" She questioned, looking around as if he would suddenly appear.
