Asta was standing at the back of the room with Armin by his side. Apparently a Titan had been killed, one that was being used for experiments and now all the soldiers were being investigated.

Asta didn't care about the Titan being killed. Just one less he would have to deal with. Ever since he arrived at the Scouts Headquarters, he just wanted to see Eren. Not deal with this.

"So, now we can actually get in trouble for killing Titans?" A soldier next to Asta said.

"Yeah, it's crazy, but they were valuable test subjects."

Asta just rolled his eyes.

"I know that. What I don't understand is why they're trying to find the killer among the cadets."

"Right, we're worn out enough as it is from cleaning up the battlefield. Who'd have the energy?"

"Guess someone hated lookin' at those Titans even more than I did." Connie said.

"Be careful, Connie. You keep talking about how much you hated Titans they might pin it on you." Asta said bluntly.

"Mm. The sad thing is they may've actually helped the Titans more than anything. All that knowledge lost, and for what, someone's personal revenge? It just doesn't make any sense." Armin said.

"Titans never help us with anything." Asta growled out. "The only time they'd help is if they'd just kill themselves."

"Asta, you need to put aside your feelings for the Titan's and look at the bigger picture." Armin said softly and Asta scoffed. He didn't want to listen to Armin. All he wanted was to kill.

"Well, it might sound dumb, but I agree with Asta, I'm glad they did it." Connie said and Armin turned away from Asta to look at him. "Before I'd actually seen a Titan, I was convinced I wanted to be a Scout and take 'em all on. Now I never wanna lay eyes on one again. And today, we have'ta pick which Regiment to join."

Out of the corner of his eye, Asta saw Jean shaking slightly. He was scared. He was probably thinking about what he said the other night. As they were burning their dead friends he had said he was joining the Scouts.

He looked terrified as he said it but he didn't take it back.

It seemed Connie had been thinking the same thing. "Hey, Annie. You think Jean meant it? You think he's serious about signing up with the Scouts?"

"Wait. Jean said that?" Armin said in surprise. He hadn't been there when Jean had said it.

"Who cares?" Annie scoffed.

"So you're sticking with the MPs, huh?" Connie questioned. "I'm really startin' to think I might go that way, too."

Asta clenched his fists by his side. He understood why they wanted to go into the MPs. He's sure any sane person would but he supposed he wasn't sane. He would die fighting. He had accepted that.
