Ancient Egypt...
"Judayn!" A woman screamed at me as I ran to the portal to the next world.
This was for my brother. I took a blade from my waist as I got to the other side. I felt nothing under me and I had nothing to run off of as I looked around the plane of dark orange skies and black clouds. I breathed heavily as I kept my blade in hand.
"What is this?" I asked quietly and I floated there, keeping tense as the gate closed behind me.
I swallowed, and there was the sound of wind. I looked as dust and dirt started gathering a distance away from me. I went back as much as I could get myself as the dirt begun gathering into a black entity with scriptures spiraling its arms in a gold light. It turned into something of a man and looked at me with yellow glowing eyes.
"Who are you?"
"My name is none of which you know."
"What are you?"
"I am the god of Chaos and Destruction."
"A god?"
"And you, Judayn Al-Awwal, are a Sphinx, a demigod to the gods of Ra. Son of Azizah, the high priestess."
"How do you know all of this?"
"I know all. Your pain, your joy, your passions, your fear,"
Chains came off from the lines of tattoos around his arms and they flew at me. I gasped as my eyes dilated and the chains wrapped themselves around my wrists, ankles and waist. I screamed as small blades came out from the chains and dug into my skin. I clenched my fists and he was in front of me. He grabbed me by the throat and held me above him, everything below his waist a cloud of black dust.
"Do you value your life, Judayn?" He asked, and I breathed shakily as the chains held me tightly, "Or more likely, do you value your family's?"
"You wouldn't," I gasped out. He just smirked.
"Be my vessel, and I will let you and your brother go," He offered, and I breathed heavily.
"Alright," I said, gritting my teeth, "I'll do it."
His smirk turned to a grin and he collided into me, sending us both back through the portal. I slid on the ground to my mother's feet. I cringed as lines of scripture were being burnt into my arms in a bright yellow light. It hurt like something was running blades through my skin. I was crying slightly. She started speaking, but I couldn't understand. What had he done to me?
Present...
I snapped up from the nightmare and rubbed my forehead, shutting my eyes. I got up and started getting dressed for the day. I pulled on my jeans and my t shirt. I looked to my arms, feeling sore. The tattoos of scripture were what was hurting me. I rubbed them slightly then got my jacket, pulling it on and zipping it. I grabbed my backpack and slung it over my shoulder, going out of my room.
I walked into the main room of the house and my father was already gone. My mother was pouring her coffee and I swallowed, going to the door.
"Judayn," She said, and I stopped from reaching for the handle.
"Yes, mother?" I asked, slightly annoyed.
"How did you sleep?" She asked, mixing the coffee.
"Alright," I felt uncomfortable, not knowing what to say.
"Be careful at school, will you?" She looked at me and her irises were slightly yellow. I nodded, "Be home on time, we wouldn't want to have the incident happen again, now would we?"
