In the morning, I walked into the map room and Jack was sitting at the table with his computer. I went to Jack.
"Still nothing on Dylan?" I asked, and he nodded.
"Yeah, not only that, but we also don't know where Pen is." He said, breathing out heavily as he pushed the computer away.
"He's not in town?"
"Not from what I know." He rubbed his eyes slightly.
"Well, anything on the Cith? They take him?" I asked, motioning slightly, "There's gotta be something."
"Not right now there isn't." He looked to his screen, "I've looked everywhere. Street records, security cameras, asked people around the area. There's nothing."
"Well that's just jolly." I leaned back on the table and rubbed my face.
Vince walked in half asleep with his shirt off and yawning and we looked at him.
"What about you?" I asked, and he looked at me.
"Hm?" He itched his back.
"Do you got anything or are you just being a lazy son of a bitch?" I asked.
"I got nothin'," He went to the kitchen and I sighed, pulling out a chair.
"Agh!" Guy cried out as the chair rolled over his leg. He hit his head on the table as he sat up, "Ow!" He held his leg with one arm and his head with his other hand.
"Whoa, are you okay?" I asked, "I didn't see you,"
He nodded as he rubbed his head, "I'm okay," He said, getting out from under the table and sitting on a seat, "I just might be getting a headache." He held his head and rubbed where he hit it. I breathed out.
"We're all off this morning, aren't we?" I asked, sitting back.
After a while, I looked through the computer for cases. I clicked my tongue slightly.
"Oh hey," I said, something catching my eye. Guy, Jack and Vince looked at me, "I got a case," I went through it, "A few high school kids, brutally mutilated, unknown causes."
"This is a case how?" Vincent asked, "They could've just been beaten up."
"Because, sunshine, they did it to other students, in front of others, with a recorded, 'blank, out of this world, or almost bored expression'." I read out, slapping the table slightly as I looked to them.
"Alright," Jack nodded, "Sounds good."
"Let's go." Vince got up and we followed him out of the library to pack.
We pulled up to the school and got out of the cars.
"Well, first we need to get in there." I said, "How do we do that?"
"I'm on it," Vincent said, flashing out. We looked around and then he was back.
"What did you,"
"Solved our problem, come on," He nodded to the school and we followed him hesitantly.
Before we knew it, Vincent had went off to teach a German class as a substitute, Guy was signed up as a senior student, Jack was on janitorial duty and I was, well...
I blew a whistle and kids settled down, in uniforms of shorts and t-shirts with the school logo on them.
"Alright," I spoke loudly, "We're gonna be doing basketball today, so," I started taking roll and saw one kid raise their hand. I looked at them.
"Ms. Kirsten says basketball is too dangerous." They said.
"Well, Ms. Kirsten isn't here." I brought up the bag of balls after roll and emptied it on the ground, "Go nuts."
