CHAPTER ONE

"What is the largest constellation have been ever seen? Can you answer this, Ms. Warner?"

I suddenly closed my phone when I heard Mr. Kramer's voice calling out my name. Shit! Panira talaga 'tong si Mr. Kramer. I don't have any idea what the answer to his question is.

"It's a simple question, Mr. Kramer. Why you couldn't answer it by yourself?" I joked around and all of my classmates laughed.

"Quiet!"

I stopped on laughing when he yelled at us. Woah. He's pissed.

"Then why are you here in my class? I just let you use your phone in my class but you can't answer a simple question? What does make you keep busy clicking your phone right now?"

I checked my phone for bit kung successful na ang panghahack ko ng wifi ni Mr. Kramer at tama nga ang expectations ko. Binalewala ko ang sinabi niya. Lagi naman niyang kong pinuputakan.

The sound of a slammed book echoed in the whole room. Now, you can see Mr. Kramer's reddish face. He's a lame science teacher, he can't even answer that goddamn question.

"Ms. Warner, if you can't answer this question one last time. I will call your parents, right away"

I stopped on chewing my fucking gum. I know if my Mom finds out about this, Im surely walking on the road to death. For the sake of saving my ass, sasagutan ko na lang ang lamest question niya.

"Mr. Kramer, the largest constellation is Hydra or the Water Snake which extends over 3.158% of the sky. Now you know" Then I heard my classmates chuckled.

He remained silent and proceed to the next topic. Ugh. How could I ever be so stupid and keep on following his orders?

The bell rang and it was our break time. I'm on my way to the library. Check the newly delivered Science books.

Let me tell you some things about me. Obviously, gusto niyo naman siguro pwera na lang sa iba. Charot. Well, I'm Astrid Galaxia Warner and I am very thankful that this is my name. Thanks Mom.

I am an avid fan of Astronomy. I even wish to be an Astronomer or an astronaut. I want to see the universe, I want to explore every part of it. The Stars, Galaxies, asteroids and Planets. Gosh. I'm such an astrophile.

And also, hobby ko rin ang panghahack ng wifi dito. Well, mayroon naman kami sa bahay pero ewan ko ba, nakaka enjoy lang kasi maghack after nung na explore ko lang sa sarili ko biglaan.

Hindi ko mapigilang mapangiti ng binuklat ko ang librong hawak ko. Every page I turn brings immense amounts of happiness to me.

"Hey, Astrid" napatingin naman ako sa nagsalita. It was Courtney my bestfriend.

"Hey 'sup?"

Before speaking, she handed me a sandwich. She knew that I don't take breaks all the time. My feet always lead me to this library and here I spent my time reading Astronomy and learned hacking.

"It's veggie, no meat. It's good for your diet."

"Thanks, Court. How could I ever thank you? You're always bringing me snacks ever since I studied here" I shyly told her.

"Come on, Lax. It's not like we're not friends." Biro pa niya na ikatawa ko naman.

Kumuha naman siya ng libro ng Geography, the study of the Earth and its features. We both love Science pero magkaiba ang field of interest namin. I studied Space Sciences and she studied Earth Sciences.

"Hey, can I ask?" Napatingin naman kami ni Courtney sa nagsalita. Yung Nerd na student dito sa school namin.

"What is it?" Tanong naman ni Court sa lalaking yun.

"I just want to clarify something about Space Exploration Timeline" nanlaki naman ang mata ko.

Oh, so he wants me to explain what I learned about the Timeline huh?

"It's yours" biglang sambit ni Courtney kaya napatingin ako ulit sa lalaking iyon.

Tumayo ako at hinanap ko doon ang libro ng Space Exploration.

"Read this!" I handed him the book. It seems that he isn't excited nor happy that I gave him the book. Then, I clicked Enter button on my laptop at agad na nag-alert yung phone niya.

"Thanks, Astrid" dahan dahan pa niyang kinuha ang libro mula sa kamay ko.

I looked him and he's really not satisfied. Medyo nainis ako ng kaunti. Gusto ata nito na ako pa magtuturo sa kaniya.

"Don't expect I would explain it to you Greg. I don't have time for tutoring. Don't wait for others to explain it to you, learn to find it yourself" prangka ko sa kaniya kaya yumuko ito habang tumango na lamang sa sinabi ko.

Then he left the place. Tamang nagring na rin yung bell kaya inayos na namin ni Courtney ang mga gamit.

"You're too harsh, Lax" i just smirked.

"Well, you know me, Court. I am not that kind of girl. It's better for him to read it by himself rather than to let me explain it to him. How can he learn?" I strictly told Court making her silent for awhile.

Bumalik na kami sa classroom namin and it was our Math Subject, supposed to be our Literature but our History Teacher excused herself for awhile because of an emergency at home.

So I am spending my 1 Hour in a boring class which makes me sleep. Who invented Math huh?

"Excuse me, I have a reminder for the students"

Our science teacher, Mr. Kramer just entered the room with the piece of paper in his hand. I am pretty sure he's just going to remind us about the announcements again.

"Okay so this Thursday, we have a field trip to Harbor Space Center and I'm pretty sure you will like it"

Nagsimula na namang maghiyawan ang mga kaklase ko. I know they are not kids anymore but they'll most likely enjoy going on a field trip rather than staying here at school.

Well, teenagers like me finds a place na kung saan comportable sila and they have also differents moods diba? But my classmate? I don't think they are teenagers, they're more like toddlers to be honest.

"I will assign Ms. Warner to list down names of students who will join. The registration fee will be $50"

Grabe ang mahal naman. 2,500 pesos ang conversion nito sa pinas. Grabe huh? Pero dahil sa gusto kong bumisita sa isang space center. I would take the offer. I will tell Mom about this.

Hmm, I don't really have to accept this assignment because I am not a teacher's pet. Especially Mr. Kramer's.

Nagulat na lamang ako ng magsilapitan na silang lahat sa akin at nagsulat ng mga pangalan sa yellowpad ko pa. Ugh! Papel ko!

After my classes, I went to my locker. I have to bring my borrowed books. Astronomy, Space Study, Solar System. Medyo marami rami na din ang mga ito.

"Hey, are you the one who's listing names?"

Napatingin naman ako doon, a guy. I think he's a senior. Pero napansin ko na may dugo siyang pinoy because of his appearance.

"For what? Field trip?"

"Yes, actually. Two of us will join. Are there any available slots left?"

Kinuha ko naman yung yello pad ko mula sa bag ko and exactly, there are two remaining slots.

"Lucky for you there are two left!" Inilahad ko naman sa kanila yung yellow pad ko.

"Thank you." Sabi niya ng matapos na siyang magsulat at nilahad na sa akin iyon.

"Okay"

"See you"

Inilagay ko na sa bag ko ang yellow pad ko. And for one last time, napatingin pa ako sa likod ng dalawang lalaking naglalakad papalabas ng building na ito.

Nagtama ang aming nga mata sa huling pagkakataon nung lumingon siya sa akin. Fi naman nagtagal at umiwas siya ng tingin at ibinalik ito sa paglalakad niya.

There's really something with that guy. Even if it's a simple glance I can definitely tell that there's some type of attraction.
