third person's pov
"ow.." Ryueun groaned as she opened her eyes and felt a throbbing pain at the back of her head. she sat up and looked around to see that she was in a foreign looking place. just in front of her was the vast sea and she was on the shore all drenched. "where am i?" she groaned again before standing up. her head was still throbbing but the pain she suddenly felt in her left thigh attracted her attention. Ryueun looked down and saw that she had a deep cut on her left thigh which was also bleeding profusely. "Hyunsuk..?" she looked around for him but he was nowhere to be found. "no..please be okay." she prayed.

the two were on a boat together for an excursion since they got bored staying at home during their school break. who knew that this excursion had a turn of events and became their worst nightmare when a storm broke out , sending huge waves to the sea which eventually overturned their boat and caused them to lose each other. the waves brought Ryueun to a stranded island to which she woke up not knowing where she was. the deep cut on her leg was due to a scratch she gotten when she was being washed around by the waves from a sharp coral reef.

worried about Hyunsuk's safety , Ryueun started walking aimlessly around the sandy ground looking behind rocks and huge boulders in hopes to find Hyunsuk but he was nowhere to be seen. her cut was still bleeding profusely and it was hurting more with every minute that passes by. Ryueun could already feel her leg becoming weaker and weaker due to the amount of blood she was losing. not wanting to just sit down and waste time , Ryueun removed her scarf she had around her neck and tied it slightly above where the cut was. the pain was excruciating but she know she have to tighten the knot. after settling her leg , she got back up and went to look for Hyunsuk again ; this time looking for him in the forest which wasn't far from the shore. she was cold , in pain and worried for Hyunsuk.

on the other hand , Hyunsuk could hear Ryueun calling for him but couldn't figure out where she was. he tried calling her too but the cycle just keeps repeating with them calling for each other since they can't make out where each of them were. "Ryueun! just stay where you are! keep calling for me! i'll follow your voice and find you!" Hyunsuk yelled and Ryueun obeyed since she knew her leg can't carry her anywhere else no more. her whole leg was covered with blood and eventually gave in , leading to her falling to the ground. while she used her remaining strength to call out for Hyunsuk , he was listening and following her voice really closely and attentively.

after wandering around for sometime as he followed her voice , he finally found Ryueun who was drained. "Ryueun!" Hyunsuk rushed over to Ryueun who was leaning against a tree for support. her lips were pale and her eyes were barely open. "Ryueun , can you hear me? please open your eyes." Hyunsuk lightly pat her cheek trying to get her up. "H-Hyunsuk?" she whispered softly. "yes , yes it's me. keep your eyes open okay? i'll take you somewhere safe." Hyunsuk said and picked up Ryueun who groaned in pain because her leg has to be bent. "is it painful? is a piggyback ride better?" Hyunsuk asked and she nodded. Hyunsuk placed her down and made her put her body weight on his back. "you don't know this , but i found an abandoned hut that looks like it housed someone else before too. we'll be safe there for now." Hyunsuk said. "g-great.." Ryueun smiled. "what happened to your leg?" Hyunsuk asked , trying to come up with questions so Ryueun can answer him and not lose consciousness. "i'm not sure..i woke up and saw that big cut there." Ryueun said.

after some time , they finally reached the hut Hyunsuk found. there , there was a roof , some left over food from old survivors that didn't make it and torn blankets. Hyunsuk gently placed Ryueun on the old bed and helped her lie down. "don't mind if i examine the wound." Hyunsuk said pushed up her pants which revealed the big , deep cut. Hyunsuk grabbed a cup he made with nature and handed it to Ryueun. "i'll put this here. it's clean water i cooked. drink it when you need to alright? i'll head outside and find some yarrow herb that can help stop the bleeding. i saw some when i was on my way here." but before Hyunsuk could leave Ryueun , she grabbed his wrist. "i'll be fine , don't worry. now you're the one who is in danger so you're in no position to worry about me." Hyunsuk smiled before leaving Ryueun.

Ryueun felt like she was a burden to Hyunsuk. he could have just find enough food and resources for one person but now he has to take care of her just because her leg is of no help now. she wanted to leave and find Hyunsuk but she knew she'll worry him if she did that.

time skip~

lucky for him , Hyunsuk managed to find out where the herbs were and picked them all before he headed back to the hut. "hey , you good?" Hyunsuk asked Ryueun when he stepped into the hut and received a weak smile as a reply. "i've never actually did first aid with yarrow plants before but i've studied it. let's hope it works okay?" Hyunsuk said before he went on to wet the yarrow flowers and leaves. "this will sting , but bear with it." Hyunsuk started putting the wet herbs around the wound. Ryueun was biting her own lip , enduring the pain that was excruciating. "you're doing great Ryueun , just a little more." Hyunsuk cheered her on. once he was done , he lifted her leg in the air so that it was above her heart level and took a rope to tie it to a wooden board near the roof.

"you really shouldn't do this. we stranded on a deserted island. who knows how long we'll be here?" Ryueun said. "i'd rather have someone next to me than be alone." Hyunsuk smiled. "liar , if it wasn't me , you wouldn't say that." Ryueun frowned. because of Hyunsuk's friends who kept on teasing him whenever she was around , Ryueun found out about his feelings for her. she knew Hyunsuk was caring so much only because he likes her. "can i ask you for a favour?" Ryueun asked. "sure , what is it?" Hyunsuk smiled. "don't like me. so you won't feel the need to take care of me. i'm a burden to you now. tomorrow morning , i'll go somewhere else so you can survive properly on your own." Ryueun said. "that's crazy. you think i'll let you do that? and why must i stop liking someone i've liked for such a long time? you can't change my heart." Hyunsuk said. "but—"

"listen Ryueun. we only have each other here. if we were to leave one another , we won't survive longer than if we stay together. and if there's only one girl left in this whole world , i will never like her unless it's you. you understand my feelings now?" Hyunsuk asked and Ryueun nodded. "if you feel bad for letting me take care of you , then rest well and quickly get better. once you're well enough , you can help around with whatever you can. i'll accept that as a repayment okay?" Hyunsuk said and Ryueun smiled with a nod. "let's survive this together and get out of here. that i promise you." Hyunsuk pecked her forehead before taking two torn blankets to cover her body.
