Damon and I went down then he put a ribbon on my eyes and led me somewhere. It wasn’t as hot as earlier in the day but we could still just wear a shirt and not be cold.
“Is it really necessary?” I asked, as he took my hand to lead me.
“No, but it’s funnier.”
I rolled my eyes, which he couldn’t see, but honestly, I was really glad he had prepared a surprise for me. He said I could look now so I took the ribbon off my eyes and released a “Wow”, completely amazed. We were on the beach. There was a blanket on the sand, with a lot of food on it. There were candles in little bottles all over the place and some flower petals or something.
“How did you…”
“I did it while you were in the shower. You take forever in the bathroom so I thought I’d surprise you.”
“I love it. It’s beautiful. Thank you.”
I know I was totally misinterpreting it but my heart skipped a beat and I had trouble stopping blushing. I sat on the blanket, took off my sandals and dug my toes on the sand.
“Shall we start eating?” Damon asked, faking a British accent.
I nodded and took a plate. The food was awesomely good and exotic, and I ate a lot. Damon confessed he had asked the hotel’s chef to cook this for him.
“I had guessed.” I said, smiling. “You’re amazing, but Damon, you can’t cook.”
“Of course I can cook!”
I shook my head, laughing.
“You can’t even make pastas right!”
“I’m still a better cook than you.” He pointed out.
“Maybe… But it’s nothing to be proud off. I’m terrible. And you’re awful.”
He pretended to look shocked and he started tickling me. I fell on my back while laughing like crazy and he stopped a little. I tried to catch my breath but couldn’t. Because Damon kissed me. He just… kissed me. He even had a hand on my hair. I don’t have a clue why I did that but I pushed him gently.
“Damon, this is wrong, you have a girlfriend.” I said, trying to stop blushing.
“Not anymore.”
“What? Why?”
At this moment, I think my heart had never beaten so fast.
“Katie and I broke up days ago. I thought you knew.”
“Why?” I repeated, not realizing what was happening.
“Katie said she thought I had feelings for you. More than friends feelings.”
“Oh. And what did you answer?” I asked, breathless.
“I said I was sorry but that it was true.”
