~ Chapter 30: I want to go away. ~

(Tini-tiny chapter sorry :S)

The next day, when I woke up, I found Damon sitting on my desk’s chair, watching something on my computer.

“Hey.” I said.

He jumped with surprise and closed the window.

“Hi. Did you sleep well?”

I nodded while yawning and he stood up to join me in bed and hug me. He told me Jenny had made him come in. We stayed in each other’s arms for a little while without saying anything. Then he got up and handed me a packet of cookies.

“My favorites!” I exclaimed, ripping the wrapping.

I took a bite and Damon smiled.

“What?”

“Nothing. I like your pajamas.”

I blushed with shame when I remembered that I was wearing my Peter Pan pajamas. Oh god! I pulled the sheets up to cover my body and Damon laughed.

“They’re cute.”

“No, it’s ridiculous! But I forgot I was wearing them…”

“I love your PJs Leah. I love everything about you.”

I smiled a little and lay on his chest.

“I want to go away.” I said.

“Today?”

“Why not? I’m tired of being in this town. And Jenny is going back to college tomorrow.”

Damon got up and took my computer. He opened the Internet and searched a destination.

“So, where would you want to go?” Damon asked, looking at every city with attention. “Tokyo? London? Morocco?”

“What about … Reunion Island?” I proposed. “When I was in high school, a friend of mine went there and she couldn’t stop talking about it. She said she had seen whales, volcanoes, waterfalls… This could be perfect.”

“It sure would be.”

He clicked on some stuff on the computer and then checked his bank account before booking the tickets and the hotel room we’ll be staying at. Excitement started to take over me.

“We’re leaving in two days.” Damon announced. “I guess we should start packing then.”

“I’m so excited! It’s going to be awesome.”

He smiled and kissed me before sitting down. His jaw was tense and I worried.

“Is everything okay?”

I could see pain in his eyes but he said “yes, don’t worry”. I took his hand and held it tight for a moment until I could see pain disappear in his eyes and he relaxed.

“Do you need to go to the hospital?” I asked.

“No, it’s nothing. It’s um… a kind of side effect of the meds. But it’s normal. Don’t worry.”

“Does it hurt?”

He shrugged then nodded. “But not nearly as much as knowing that I won’t be able to see you again when it’s… over.”

I felt tears swelling in my eyes and I hugged him tight, not letting go for a long moment.

“I hate seeing you suffer.”

“The doctor said it would get worse in a couple of weeks since we’re coming near the deadline and everything…”

“Damon!”

“I’m sorry. I’m just… I don’t know. I just got you back, I don’t want it to end. And I don’t want you to be there when I’ll be weak and sick as hell.”

“I’ll be there every step of the way whether you like it or not. I’m here for you. I won’t leave.”

“You’re so amazing. I don’t know what I did to deserve you.”

“Don’t fool yourself, I’m staying mostly because of your abs. Where will I find some like yours?” I joked.

He smiled and kissed me.

“I love you.”

“I love you too.”
