~ Chapter 14: Surf in Hawaii. ~
The following day, we woke up in each other's arms and had trouble getting out of bed. It was so magical. I mean, I had dreamt of this for so long now that when it was happening, I just couldn't believe it. Every single time Damon had spent the night at my place on the couch, the only thing I was dying to do was join him and put my head on his chest to fall asleep in his arms, while he was hugging me. And now, it was happening. This feeling was just... so perfect. Besides, it's not like we could afford to loose time. So we had to make to most of the months we had left together. I know, I'm repeating myself again. I'm sorry. Just try to put yourself in my shoes and you'll understand. Or maybe you won't, cause I know I don't but... Ok. I'm doing it again.
We both got dressed up really fast and went down to eat breakfast and then went in the beach. We installed our things on the sand and ran in the water. Just thinking that right now, I should have been in college bored in classes that didn't even interest me that much, I just wanted to scream my joy to the world. I mean, instead of wasting my time, I was in Hawaii with a guy I was hopelessly in love with. What more do you need!
Probably two hours later, we got out of the water and Damon took out the list of the bag.
"Let's do what we came here for: Surf in Hawaii." Damon said.
"I've never even touched a surfboard in my life."
"Well, it's a good thing someone's going to be there to teach us cause me neither."
There was a sort of aquatic center where you could learn how to water-ski or how to windsurf or whatever so we went there and obviously, you could learn how to surf as well. The guy told us to come back in an hour for our lessons so we went back on the beach and lay in the sun to tan, sharing headphones to listen to some music.
After an hour, we went back to the center and a guy named Andrew welcomed us. He gave us wetsuits that we put on and our boards. I have to say: they were really awesome. Damon and I took some pictures before going in the water. We had to keep memories of this, we just looked so cool with our boards! Besides, Jenny and Seth would never believe me if I didn't have a proof. Andrew taught us everything there was to know before going in the water so we practiced on the sand. We learned how to get on our board and everything and then, when he decided we were ready, he told us to go. We were excited but a little worried as well. The waves were pretty big and it was kind of the first time ever we were doing this. But we still did it. We ran in the water with our surfboards and swam like we had just learned.
I'll admit as first, it was a disaster. Every time I was trying to get on my board, the wave was swallowing me and I couldn't see anything for a few minutes until finally I could get to the surface. It took me maybe an hour before finally getting on the board. I was so happy when I did that I screamed. Ok, I only stayed a few seconds on it but, still, it was a big accomplishment. After another hour, I could actually sort of surf. Ok, I couldn't take a big wave or anything but I was standing on my board and managed to surf a little. Unfortunately, it was at about the same time as the end so we had to give the boards back.
"You guys did really well for a first time." Andrew said when we were back on the beach.
He gave us some advices for the next time (like there was going to be one!) and then we gave back all the equipment before going back to the beach.
"Oh my god that was amazing!" Damon exclaimed while we were walking to our stuff.
I agreed, still in a state of shock.
"Did you manage to get on the board?" I asked.
I couldn't see him cause I was too focused on trying no to drown.
"Yeah, a couple times! It took me a while but eventually, I surfed."
We lay in the sand and took something to eat, a little tired and also starving. Damon took the list and checked Surf in Hawaii off the list.
"I'm so glad we did this." I said, my eyes closed.
"Me too, it was awesome."
He kissed me.
"So... When do you think we should leave Hawaii?" Damon asked, mingling his fingers with mine.
"I don't know. I don't want to leave this paradise..."
"Me neither. But the fact that we'll be together make it less hard."
I smiled and kissed him. God, he was so sweet!
"Let's stay three more days to enjoy it as much as we can and then, we'll decide where we go next, ok?"
"Ok." I agreed.
We didn't have a lot of things left in the list that we had to do in Hawaii so there wasn't any particular reason why we should have stayed longer. We still had a lot of places to go to and a lot of things to do. There's an end to everything. And we still had amazing things ahead of us.
