KAIRI GRABBED DELANEY'S HAND AS they walked out the restaurant, pulling her towards him as he engulfed her in a hug. She laughed and wrapped her arms around him, looking up as he gently pressed a kiss to her forehead.

"That was the most I've smiled in a long time," she admitted as they walked along the dark street, her heart racing in her chest as she waited for Kairi to tell her some sort of bad news. That's how her life always went; happiness never stayed for long.

"Me too," Kairi finally answered, squeezing her hand once as her nerves calmed quite a bit. She smiled again and rested her head on his shoulder as the hotel came into sight, a small sigh escaping her body. She didn't want the night to end, and hell, she didn't want the week to end either.

Delaney knew that she could visit Kairi anytime that he asked but she didn't know how this was supposed to work if they were three thousand miles from each other. It wouldn't feel the same.

They had just walked into the hotel lobby when her phone rang, Mattia's name flashing across the screen briefly before she answered. She held a finger, stopping Kairi from moving and groaned after she listened for a few seconds.

"I don't really — Yeah, whatever. I'll be there soon," she snapped, hanging up as she let her arms drop to her sides. She turned and gave Kairi a small frown, wrapping her arms around him as she rested her head on his shoulder.

"What'd he want?" Kairi asked softly, wrapping his own arms around her. Delaney sighed once again, pulling away for a moment. "He's begging me to come to the party with him and Ryland. I don't have to go—"

Kairi shook his head and smiled, kissing her quickly. "Go and have fun. I'm just staying in my room tonight — just come over after," he cut her off and pushed her playfully away from him, laughing as she winked and promised she wouldn't be long.

He didn't move until she disappeared from the lobby, then slowly began dragging himself towards his room. He didn't know why he had told her to go, he hadn't wanted to, but he knew that she loved her friends and he wasn't going to keep her from doing what she wanted to do.

Delaney hesitated as she came up to the address that Ryland had sent her earlier, not quite ready to walk into the house as she listened to the music coming from inside. Her anxiety had started acting up when she had left Kairi and right now, it was pummeling her brain and thoughts mercilessly.

She took a deep breathe and walked inside, gently pushing past creators until she finally found Ryland and Mattia. Ryland saw her first and grinned, stumbling towards her as his cup spilled everywhere.

"Delaney!" He slurred, groaning when she grabbed the cup from his hand and glared past him at Mattia. She ducked under his arm and stomped over to her friend, crossing her arms.

"How much did he drink?" She snapped, rolling her eyes when Mattia shrugged. "No idea, he was like that when I got here," Mattia answered boredly, laughing as Ryland held up another full cup from behind her.

Delaney clenched her fists to keep herself from lashing out on him and faked a smile, drinking the rest of whatever Ryland hadn't spilled from his cup. Her face screwed up at the taste and she coughed, trying to sooth the burn from her throat.
