[Two days after the motive was given]
"Hey, Jiro. Jiro? Jiro!"
The criminologist snapped out of his daze and locked eyes with the comedian.
"There you are. I thought I lost you for a second. You seem a bit...out of it." Mizuki said, smiling awkwardly.
Jiro sighed. "I guess I just...am having a hard time with some things." He sheepishly admitted.
Since he was far too focused on the ground, he missed the smile that Mizuki gave him.
"Aren't we all. Honestly, I can't seem to piece some things together. Did you know that Itsuki-san and Chiyo-san are basically glued at the hip now? And Leiko-san is going around without Gin-san, recently. It's really weird." She said, making such dramatic hand motions that she almost hit Jiro.
"I actually...didn't notice that..." he mumbled.
"Oh! And yesterday I was doing this thing, cause I was bored, where I jumped from the second floor balcony with a sheet of plastic that I found so it could act as a parachute. It didn't exactly worked as I planned."
"Wait wait wait. You what?! Are you completely brain dead or something?!" He spluttered, staring at the comedian in utter disbelief. "You're an idiot!"
"Yeah, I already knew that. Anyways, I did end up slowing down, but I'm pretty sure I almost broke my ankle....and my spine. But I didn't expect the fall to be so high." She said, laughing nervously.
Jiro facepalmed as he listened to the story.
"Of course it's a long fall! Have you n-not seen how tall this mansion is?!" He asked.
Mizuki smiled innocently. "I think it would be best if I don't answer that."
Jiro groaned. "I feel like a babysitter..." he mumbled.
"Really?"
"Anyways, how did you get back inside? Didn't y-you say you twisted your ankle or something?" He asked.
"Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you. I actually landed on something that broke my fall. Or more specifically, I guess, someone broke my fall. Because I landed on Monokitty."
Jiro could stop the chortle that he made after hearing the last part.
"How did you...?"
"I'd like to elaborate that it was not my intention to do that, but she insisted on catching me before I died." She explained, rolling her eyes playfully.
"She was all like "What were you thinking?! If I wasn't there to catch you, you could've seriously hurt yourself! You're so lucky that I have to do patrols of the mansion before you kids have to sleep!" Not gonna lie though, I couldn't keep up with the rest of what she said." Mizuki recalled.
Jiro sighed and hung his head in defeat.
"You are such a collateral dumbass." He muttered.
"Nice try, Jiro, buuuuut I already knew that." She said with a wink.
"How are you even still alive?"
"I literally have no clue." She said flatly.
"Your stupidity has to end somewhere." He pointed out.
She chuckled. "Bold of you to assume that my stupidity has a limit." She said.
Jiro rolled his eyes, but he was honestly anything but annoyed. The comic relief that Mizuki brought was somewhat endearing.
