"I did say I wanted you guys to know the outside world, but this is still a questionable starting topic...let me ask you this: what is this world's true identity?" Monokuma began, looking around at the remaining students.
"What...kind of question is that?" Gin asked.
Jiro clenched his teeth. He knew the answer to this question, but he didn't want to say it in fear of it being the truth.
But still, he had no choice.
"It's...-"
"It's a virtual world inspired by an actual remote island! Soooo, this isn't the real world but if you want, you can call it the game world."
"A...g-game world....?" Fumi repeated shakily.
"W-what are you talking about, Monokuma!? Is this not the real world?" Itsuki asked, leaning forward so hard that the cat jumped off this shoulders and onto his podium.
"The Future Foundation created this world using a program called the Neo World Program. It's a program to place the user in a virtual world by synchronizing directly with the user's brain. Which means....your bodies still exist in the real world. But right now, you're completely submerged in the game world, as if you're dreaming or something. Basically, you guys are avatars!"
"Avatars? You mean like a copy of what we are in real life?" Haku asked.
"But...that's not everything...is it?." Mizuki mumbled.
"Your avatars were constructed by removing a specific thing from your bodies in the real world."
"And what exactly was that?" Gin asked, crossing his arms.
'Wait....I know the answer to this.'
"I-I got it!"
"I-it was our school memories that were removed." Jiro said.
"But....that would mean...we were created with our memories from before we entered the school...?" Itsuki said.
"Damnit...this is all so confusing..." Gin cursed, running a hand through his hair.
"E-everything here...w-was just a-a lie!" Fumi cried, holding her head in her hands.
"Wait. Something just crossed my mind. If this is really all just a game...then whenever happened here...just took place in the game, right?" Gin spoke up.
"Huh? Then that means...." Haku trailed off.
"Yeah. The killings that happened here only happened in the game world. Everyone who died, should still be alive in the real world." The bodyguard continued.
Everyone felt a surge of hope spread through their minds.
"Y-yes! That makes sense! What happens in a virtual world should not effect what happens in the real world." Itsuki added, taking his hat off his head.
