When Jiro came to, he was laying on a bed. A soft bed. He blinked open his eyes, briefly glancing around.
Ah. He was just in his assigned room.
'Was all of that just a dream?'
He slowly sat up, groaning at the incredible headache he had. But as he tried to get up, he felt something moving beside him.
As his curiosity peaked, he looked over at the other side of the bed, only to be met with a single red eye staring back at him.
Reacting quickly and professionally, Jiro fell off the side of the bed, taking half of the blanket down with him in the process.
He hit the ground and quickly scrambled to get up his feet, resulting in his legs getting even more tangled in the blanket than before.
"Ugh....fine...you win. Y-you devil spawn." Jiro mumbled, slowly turning over to untangle his legs.
Once he did so, he stood up and brushed off his clothes. Staring at the cat, he narrowed his eyes.
"How did you get in here?" He asked.
Then he mentally face palmed himself.
"I'm talking...to a damn cat..." he sighed.
Yup. He was definitely losing his marbles.
Wait. Jiro suddenly remembered.
The voices.
So many different voices. They sounded so angry at him. But...why? Was it all just his imagination?
He reached up and placed a finger under his ear. He could feel dried blood. Then that means....it couldn't have been just him.
The criminologist looked over at the cat. The animal was sitting on the edge of his bed, staring back at him. Like it knew something.
It interrupted their staring contest as it jumped off the bed and padded towards the door.
It began to rub its paws against the door, trying to get it to open.
Jiro sighed and checked the clock.
9:37 am.
So it was the next day? And he had missed breakfast.
How had he even made it to his room after yesterday?
Jiro was still incredibly weary of the cat, so he kept at least two feet away from it. He stretched his arm out to open the door. Immediately, the cat bolted out and disappeared around the corner.
"Jiro-kun."
Jiro stiffened as he heard the voice beside him. But he relaxed when he only saw Haku. Not only that, but she had Hiroto's birds perched on her shoulders.
"H-Haku-san? What are you d-doing?" He asked.
The contortionist's eyes scanned the side of his head before looking back towards his face. She was most likely wondering about the dried blood under his ears.
"No one saw you at breakfast, so I came here to check." She answered. "And one more thing. Itsuki-kun and Mizuki-san found a box of fireworks in the back of the game room. That want everyone to gather at the front of the mansion around 7:00 pm so they can set them off. It's up to you if you come or not."
Haku glanced down the hallway, like she was checking for something.
"O-okay...I'll think about it..." Jiro said.
After the exchange, Haku began to walk down the hallway, but she stopped after a few steps and turned her head back towards Jiro.
"Jiro-kun. Just a suggestion." She said, although her tone only held light concern. "Clean yourself up. You look terrible."
