Arata watched as the ship approached the dock. He felt an odd sense that he was forgetting something, but he brushed it off as just being paranoid.

"Hey, Katsune-san. Is everything finished up with your half?" Makoto asked, approaching the former survivor.

"Yeah. Judging by how much you're smiling, I'm assuming things went well on your part too." Arata said, keeping his eyes fixed on the boat.

"It did. I'm still sorry about dragging you into all this-"

"How many times have I told you to stop apologizing? I chose to do this. You aren't in this alone, Naegi-san." He said, turning to look at the other boy.

They shared a moment of silence and understanding between them.

A bit further behind them, stood the other four. While Kichino and Byakuya were engaged in an incredibly powerful glaring match, Kotori and Kyouko were keeping a close eye on Arata and Makoto.

"Aw, look. Our boys are getting along." Kotori said, giggling.

"Hm. That's not what I'm concerned about at the moment. Are we absolutely certain that they didn't revert back to despair?" Kyouko wondered aloud.

"Well, they did say that they would stay on the island. If they were truly despair, don't you think they would've rejected staying here?" The former investigator said.

"I suppose you're right. Only time will really tell. Besides, I trust Naegi-kun. More or less..." she trailed off.

"Heh. I trust Arata-kun. Just like Naegi-san, he's much more reliable then he seems." Kotori pointed out.

The two boys watched as the boat left the dock. They had their doubts at first, but they knew that they would be fine here.

For the most part.

"A-are...we...really....going to...be okay....here...?" Jiro Kinoshita rasped.

His hair was black with white streaks and he has his orange hood over his head. He looked quite sleep-deprived. There were bandages wrapped around his neck, which were starting to itch rather bad.

"Yeah. Don't worry about it. Our future may be uncertain, but I want to discover it with everyone. So let's do our best from here on out, to atone for our crimes." Hajime Hinata said, looking down at the boy who was sitting in the edge of the rocks.

"Yeah....okay....I think....I....want....that too...." Jiro spoke softly, smiling as he stared at the ship disappearing over the horizon.

In this story, no one will know what happened here. Which is why they must stay on Jabberwock Island. But that's something that they're willing to do.

It's a price to pay for salvation. A price they would pay.

But they'd do it together. For themselves, and for others.
