The next several days seemed to pass pretty quickly. You spent most of your time working on the wedding, and catching up on schoolwork you had been putting off. You spent a lot of time at Jin's house, and so did Taehyung, apparently. You kept your mouth shut and pretended nothing was going on.
When you were at home, Jungkook stayed over most nights. He claimed it was because he was dying in science class and desperately needed your help, but you saw the concerned glances he gave you when you weren't looking, and you knew Taehyung had called him and told him what happened the other day.
You pulled Tae to the side a few times to ask if he had talked to Jimin yet, but he hadn't. Jimin hadn't returned to Taehyung's apartment after he saw us that morning, and every time he tried to call him, it went straight to voicemail. You were even brave enough to call him a few times, but it was no use. Straight to voicemail.
You were becoming increasingly worried, scared that he was hurt and running off to do something stupid. Taehyung assured you that this was just what he did to cope, and that he would come back soon. He told you he was probably just off staying with his brother down south for a little bit and trying to get away, and that he wouldn't hurt himself or get into any trouble. But even you could see the hint of apprehension in Tae's eyes when he told you this. He wasn't even totally sure himself.
Nights were the hardest. Most nights you slept on the couch with Jungkook, or curled up in Jin's bed. Sleeping near one of them usually kept you calm, but you still had trouble sleeping. When the lights were off and you didn't have anything productive to do, that's when you would replay what had happened.
Jimin's voice as he tried to sound calm. His shaking hands. The look of hurt and confusion and betrayal in his eyes when he left.
It was enough to drive you crazy.
But most of the time you shook those thoughts out of your head and tried to trust Taehyung and Jungkook when they said you didn't need to blame yourself, and to focus on other things until Jimin came back and we could talk to him.
One night you walked out of Jin's room to get water when you found Jungkook laying on the couch, scrunched over and smiling at his phone in the dark.
"Ahem," you said jokingly. He straightened out immediately, laughing when he realized it was only you.
"What are you doing up?" he asked.
You arched an eyebrow at him, "I could ask you the same question."
He ruffled the back of his hair, looking embarrassed, "Texting a girl."
"Damn," you laughed, "You don't even compromise your sleep schedule for a girl when you guys are fucki—"
"Yeah, yeah, I get it," he said, cutting you off before you could finish. You wiggled your eyebrows at him, and he pretended like he couldn't see you. You ran over and cannon balled onto the couch next to him. You were just as annoying as Jungkook was when it came to new girls, but most people didn't know that, because none of the girls Jungkook got with ever stuck around for long.
"Let me see her," you demanded, and he rolled over sideways to avoid getting kicked.
He rolled his eyes and whined about it for a few moments, but finally showed you a picture of her. It was the same girl whose Instagram he had been stalking the other day in the seminar. She was undeniably really pretty, and you could see why she had caught Jungkook's eye, but she didn't look like any of the girls he usually brought home.
"Oooooh," you teased him, "You got the balls to DM her?"
"Yeah, I did," he said. He squinted at you, "How is it that you know everything?"
You gave a little shrug, "I'm magical like that."
His phone dinged, and he immediately texted back. You bit your lip to hide a smile as he grinned down at his phone. He wasn't usually like this with girls, but you didn't want to patronize him too much and jinx it.
"What's her name?" you asked when he finished typing.
"Lee," he said, "She's actually really nice."
"You haven't hooked up with her?" you asked, your eyes going wide. He gave you a small, embarrassed smile.
"Nope," he said, "And I probably won't for a little bit. I figured I would try talking instead of doing the frick frack and then ignoring her."
You snorted at his use of the word 'frick frack,' before nodding, "That's a refreshing change."
He smiled, "Yeah. I figure that's probably a little healthier. Emotionally and for my dic—"
"Nope," you held up your hand to cut him off, "I get the idea."
He smiled smugly, satisfied with himself. You stood up to get water. You could see Jungkook, still grinning down at his phone, as you filled a glass in the sink.
"There's no way you're going to be able to function tomorrow," you said jokingly, "It's like four in the morning."
"Oh shit," he said, his eyes darting to the clock, "I thought it was still early."
"Yeah, that tends to happen when you're talking to someone you like," you said, winking at him. His face slowly turned bright red, and you laughed as you went back to Jin's room. You set your glass of water on the nightstand and crawled back into bed as quietly as you could.
"Yeodongsaeng?" Jin muttered in his sleep. You winced, not wanting to wake him. You pressed yourself gently against his side so he would know you were there.
He clumsily wrapped his arm around your shoulders, and you pressed into his neck.
"What the fuck," he whispered, and you snorted, trying to hold back your giggles. His breathing slowed, and you knew he was asleep again. You rolled your eyes and cuddled in, quickly falling back asleep.
