I met Jackson at a restaurant/bar, a pretty basic date location. I had dressed up a bit, not too much, just a pink lacy crop top, jeans, and high heels. If you asked if I was nervous I wouldn't know what to say, I felt like I should be, but I really wasn't. It wasn't a big deal, we were just having dinner. Then why did I feel so uneasy about this? I could usually get a feel for what people were like the first time I met the, maybe I hadn't paid enough attention to Jackson when we met. After all, I had been in a rush. No, I'm sure it's fine. I'm just being paranoid. I haven't gone on a date in about a year, I'd been so occupied with my career and my "relationship" with Colby. Oh, Colby! He had texted me when I was getting ready, I had forgotten to text him back. I stationed myself outside of the entrance. I texted Colby back quickly, he had apologized for acting strange. I don't think he had a reason to be sorry, we had both been off lately. It wasn't just him. And even if it was, it wouldn't have mattered, everyone has bad days, he doesn't need to make it into a huge thing. I told him that we could talk sometime, though I didn't know when and he asked me if I knew if I was coming over to his apartment after this. Sucking in a deep breath, I told him I didn't know. I wanted to, we hadn't done anything in a while, but I had no idea how long I was going to be with Jackson. I would call him after and tell him. I just wanted to enjoy this night without thinking about Colby. "Do I need to come back or-?" My head jerked up and I found Jackson standing next to me. I laughed," Sorry! Just texting a friend." He smiled and held his hand out to me," I was just joking around. You ready?" "Yep!" I grasped his hand as he led me through the entrance. Jackson talked to the guy at the front, checking on our reservations. There seemed to be a problem, the guy kept asking other workers questions. Then he left. "What's going on?" I whispered. He looked annoyed, his jaw clenched," Apparently, there's something wrong with the reservation I made. They can't find it." We waited for another fifteen minutes before the guy came back," So sorry, there was a glitch in the system. I'll show you to your table." "Well, maybe you could hurry up next time." Jackson said rudely. I grabbed his arm," Hey, it's not that big of a deal, it's fine." I glanced at the waiter," I'm sorry." He nodded at me gratefully and motioned towards the table," I'll be back with your menus immediately." "I can't believe that happened," Jackson announced as we sat down," I'm sorry, Jade." "It's fine, I know how stressful it is working restaurant is. Glitches happen all the time." He raised an eyebrow," You're a waitress?" "Was,' I corrected," Before my career took off., I waited tables trying to save up." "What do you do now?" "Modeling mostly, some brand deal here and there as well." He studied me for a second before picking up his menu. I looked at mine, trying to decide what I wanted. We ordered out food, making small talk as we ate. Jackson was continuously rude to our servers. Maybe I had gotten a good first impression of him then, but now I don't feel the same. He worked at Tender greens, why was he acting like this? He didn't ask me any other questions about myself other than if I went to a lot of parties with other models. Which I replied "not really". Yeah, I was so not into this guy anymore. He seemed like the type to get a girl just to tell people he had a girl. So not my lane. Colby was way better than this guy. Colby hardly ever talked about himself unless he was asked, and even then he didn't enjoy it. We usually had mutual conversations, and we were both present in the conversation, not hardly paying attention like Jackson. Wait, why was I comparing Jackson to Colby? I'm not trying to base my future boyfriend off of Colby. I excused myself to the restroom, sending a quick text to Colby, telling him that I was coming over. I needed to blow off some steam, I wasted my Friday night with Jackson. When I returned, Jackson was engulfed in something on his phone. "I gotta get going." I said. He looked up," So do I. I'll walk you to you car." He put his hand on the small of my back and I shifted uneasily. Why did that make me so uncomfortable? "So," he said, I pulled my keys out of my purse," Wanna do this again sometime?" "Uh, not really. I'm sorry, I just don't feel a connection." "Seriously?" "Yeah, I don't feel like this is going anywhere." He scoffed," Okay, your loss." He turned and walked away. What an asshole. I shook my head, getting into my car. My phone started ringing, it was Colby. "Hey." "Hey, when are you coming over?" "I'm actually on my way. Is that okay?" "Yep! That's perfect actually." "Okay, I'll be there in about ten minutes." "See you then!" "See ya." Ten minutes later I was in the elevator, tapping my foot repeatedly. I felt nervous, what did he want to talk about? We already went over the fact that things weren't the same, what else could there be? I knocked on his door, I heard footsteps and the door opened. God, he looked so hot. He was wearing black sweatpants that hung low on his waist, a cut off shirt, and his hair was messy like he had just woken up. "Hey so-" I pulled him close to me, crashing my lips against his. Colby staggered, catching himself on the door frame. He grabbed my waist, pulling me inside and pushing me back. My back met the door, I groaned at the force he used, which seemed to turn him on. He pushed his hips against mine and fuck, this was going to be interesting. His lips made their way to my neck. "What about talking?" He asked, struggling to get the words out. "After?" My voice barely above a whisper. He looked at me, his eyes darkened by lust, tracing over my face. I wanted to know what was going on in his mind so badly, I wanted to know what he was thinking. "Deal." He yanked his shirt over his head while I took my shoes off. Colby's eyes trailed over me. He grabbed my hand, leading me into his bedroom and placing me in front of his mirror. "Stay here." He walked out. What is he doing? It was a while before he came back," What were you doing?" "Doesn't matter right now." He came up behind me, pulling me back against him. He lowered his head, placing a soft kiss onto my neck,"I feel like it's been forever..."
