Colin pov
The punch was throbbing on my face. I heard Cecilia yelling out my name, I quickly threw a punch at the guy and kicked him on his stomach to push him away.
My gaze darted quickly towards Cecilia and I put my hands on her shoulder to reassure her, "You okay?"
She stared at me with a gaped mouth, "What do you mean am I okay? Are YOU okay?"
A smile escaped; she was adorable.
"It's not a matter of time to smile!" She yelled slightly.
Stretching an arm out, I reached towards the top of her head as I placed a hand on it, "Don't worry. This is normal, it happens from time to time. Go back in. We'll take this somewhere else so it won't disturb you okay?"
She nodded as her cheeks visibly tinted pink. Whenever her cheeks turned pink she looked rather pretty than cute.
"Um take this," she said while handing the necklace out.
Alec says the necklace is important to him but he always seems like he actually wants to lose it. I sighed at the thought of Alec always being reckless and carefree. His carefree nature irritated me at times.
Taking the necklace out of her hand, I put it in my pocket. I'm pretty sure Jess and the others are done cleaning up the low skilled henchmen. I should probably start telling the group to take it somewhere else. Cecilia was still there, looking around confused, like she's searching for someone.
"Cecilia? You can go now," I said in my usual monotone.
She quickly fixed her gaze on me, "Okay, be careful! I trust you. You said it's normal! So I'm trusting you."
Her short hair that sat right above her shoulder framed her features in a way that was pleasing to sore eyes, like mine. Without a doubt, if she let her hair grow out she would look even more elegant... Something about women in long hair tingled my heart. Her chocolate brown eyes were pretty pleasing to look at too.
But if I like her like this it wouldn't be fair to her would it? I should stop my heart from fluttering so much.
Initially, I wasn't interested. Nothing in life seemed to interest me. Everything was a bore. Just when I thought she was a fleeting encounter, her quick answer in that summer class, forcefully grabbed me by the collar and told me to directly look at her.
I was impressed so to speak. Everyone else in class gave no shit about what was being taught. But her quick answer was... something new and out of the ordinary from mundanity of life. It's like looking at a field of white normal looking daisies and all of a sudden you catch a glimpse of another colour that makes you go, 'what was that?'
Since then my eyes naturally started searching for her involuntary. Without my notice I was allured. The more my eyes searched, the more I became drawn in. With growing curiosity, I decided to get closer. I found myself doing things I would never do... Hanging out with the guys was something I did... rarely and yet today I find myself here.
I'm just like that boy with wax wings flying towards the sun. I should stop before I find myself plunging into the sea.
"Hey, let's take it somewhere else to keep—" Before I could finish my sentence.
Alec cut me off, "Yup already on it. Get in the car."
Alec likes when a girl has good leadership qualities, so when he complimented her it kind of annoyed me. It bothered me the fact that maybe Alec is starting to like her. The way he keeps glancing at her from time to time. He's too dumb to realise his own feelings. But it shouldn't be bothering me, this is all wrong, maybe I'm messed up in my head.
After beating Seth out of town, I decided to head home. I left Jess and the others.
"Colin? You're home at this time? You know—" I muffled her voice out.
She's never satisfied, no matter how many good marks or good deeds I do for our lives, all she does is complain. There should be a complaint competition I'm sure she'd win.
"Colin, listen to your mom. Do you know what time it is? It's 1am." Typical of dad to support her.
"Mom?" My eyebrows furrowed, "She left you because you cheated on her with this wrench."
"Colin?" Aria called out while rubbing her eyes. She was walking downstairs and stopped midway. The only person I care about in this family is Aria.
I smiled, "Aria, hey what are you doing up?"
"I heard loud noises coming from downstairs," she pouted, "Also I want a glass of water."
"Go to your room. I'll bring you water," I smiled at her.
She nodded and headed back upstairs.
"Colin what happened to your face?" Dad furrowed his eyebrows, showing some level of concern.
I ignored him, got the glass of water and walked upstairs.
"Look at him changing his expressions, what a two faced bitch," he continued.
"Don't say that! At least he's taking care of Aria so we don't have to bother," the wrench protested with a distasteful tone.
Even though Aria is from the wrench's side, her own daughter with another man than my dad, she could care less.
"Aria," I smiled, she was fast asleep. I put the glass of water on her bedside table before I left her room.
The house fell silent and all the lights were off when I walked back downstairs. Only some lamps were dimly lit as I walked into the kitchen to grab myself something to eat. Grabbing some leftovers from, I'm assuming the dinner I missed earlier, I was ready to take it back to my room until dad walked in fixing his robe.
"It's because of that Alec isn't it?" He shook, like some addict. Gazing down at his hand, he had a pack of cigarettes ready to use. "Told you not to be friends with him anymore. Just like deadbeat father just like son," he bitched.
Why... is it always that I catch people taunting or harassing Alec? Why me? Why couldn't someone else be the witness to all these around him? First the teachers, Seth and now him. "Don't talk shit about him, aren't you friends with his dad? Two faced bitch? Talk about ignorance," I headed upstairs.
I'm pretty sure the wrench only married my dad because we're pretty well off. Not that well off like Cecilia or Cindy but we're quite in between. I would say we're comfortable.
My phone rang and the caller ID read, Jess. "Hey! We're going to Cecilia's again tomorrow to hang, you coming?" She asked over the phone.
Without hesitating, I replied, "Sure," and heard plenty of giggles in the background.
It was obvious that they were going to tease me. I hung up quickly before that could happen. I don't know why I agreed again to go but I just felt like seeing her once more. Maybe... it was to confirm... Maybe it was to find closure.
I let out a sigh, "What an inconvenient attachment."
