"Lysandra please-"
"I'll give you one chance. One chance to explain yourself. One chance to tell me why you're here and who Arobynn is making you kill. Otherwise I will go and tell everyone who you really are." Lysandra spat at me, venom filling her voice.

"I'm not here to kill anyone, I swear. I've left that behind Lysandra. Please, please believe me. I - I'm sorry for everything. Everything I ever said to you. everything I ever did. I'm sorry I hated you. I'm truly sorry. I just - I want a new start. Away from that life. Away from the keep. Away from Arobynn. Away from the memories...' I trailed off, she was eyeing me sceptically.

"I haven't seen you for a year. Anywhere. Why?" Was all she said.

"I- I was in jail."

"So you finally got caught, huh?"

"For something I didn't do." Tears started rolling down my cheeks. Sudden memories flashed through my mind - the damp, dark cell I stayed in for just over a year, never seeing the sun, desperately trying to cling to my sanity. Being in and out court houses, trying to prove my innocence. That I didn't kill him.

"What were you - oh my god. Sam." At his name, I started sobbing, placing my head in my hands. My body shuddered with sobs, and I was only able to shake my head, "you were jailed for killing Sam." Lysandra's voice was hoarse, like she was trying not to cry. She was good friends with him, everyone was friends with Sam. He was so nice to everyone, I don't know how he did it. I shook my head again.

"I always knew he loved you. You loved him back, didn't you."

"I never got tell him." I weeped.

"How did you get out?"

"I don't - I don't know." I managed to say through my sobs. "One day someone came to get me and I was let out. I changed my name and enrolled here."

"Does Arobynn know?" I looked up.

"No. I bought mine and Sam's freedom before he- you know. He was so pissed, he refused to help me in court."

"So that's why he was so annoyed."

"What? Lysandra, what did he do?"

"A couple of days after Sam died, he stormed into Clarisse's. He..." She trailed off. She didn't need to tell me what happened. He bought her virginity.

"Lysandra I'm so sorry-"

"Don't be. He had had his eyes on me for a while, it was only a matter of time." A river of tears fell down her face.

"Look at us. We're such a mess. If Aedion walks in now..." Lysandra chuckled, wiping her eyes. I did the same.

"I- I have some chocolate. I was saving it for later, but I think we need a bit of a pick me up, Aelin." I smiled at her. Sam always wanted us to be friends. It's just a shame that he never got to see it for himself.

"You know I won't say no to chocolate. Friends?"

"Friends." She nodded. I grinned at her. We've had our disputes in the past, but I need a female friend around here. God only knows what I'd do if I only hung out with Aedion. Lysandra opened up her box of chocolates and ate one, before offering it the box to me.

"So, what's your deal with Aedion?"

"Huh? Oh, he's my cousin."

"Really? You look so similar, I would've thought you were siblings."

"Two sides of the same coin. That's how everyone used to describe us. Now, how does Aedion stand in the whole social side of the school? Is he popular, is he on any sports teams?"

"Well, he's quite popular, but not as much as the cadre."

"The what now?"

"The cadre. Six dudes, that's what everyone calls them. All a captain of some kind of sports team. It's Connal and Fenrys Moonbeam, those two are twins."

"Moonbeam?" I sniggered.

"Oh yeah. It's such a stupid name, but no one dares mock them for it. Well, not in front of their faces. Then you have Vaughan. He's really quiet, doesn't speak much. But he's very smart. There's Gavriel, he's definitely the nicest one of the lot. He's kind, but he will kick your ass if he needs to. Then there's Lorcan Salvaterre. He's the one that's always brooding. Unless he's with his girlfriend, Elide. She has him wrapped around her little finger. Finally, you have Rowan Whitethorn. No one really knows Rowan Whitethorn, apart from the other members of the cadre. Lots of people are scared of him, and most people stay far away."

"Well, I know exactly how I'm going to deal with them."

"Don't say it."

"Mock the hell out of them." Lysandra groaned. I shrugged my shoulders at her. A knock sounded on the door.

"Who is it?" I yelled.

"It's just me!" Aedion called from the other side of the door. Honestly, he can't even have me alone for ten minutes. I said as much to Lysandra.

"Come in!" She said.

"Aelin, I though we'd go have dinner, I can introduce you to the guys. You up for it?"

"Why not. I'll see you in a bit?" I walked out of mine and Lysandra's room, Aedion shutting the door behind us.

"So, Lysandra is your roommate."

"Yup."

"And you guys are getting along? If not you can ask to switch with someone-"

"Aedion, chill. We're getting on like a house on fire. No need to worry."

"She seemed to hate you when I left."

"She... thought I was someone else. It doesn't matter. Time to eat. I'm starving."

A/n

This is kind of a filler chapter, but I wanted to include how Celeana and Lysandra pretty much hated eachother, but Aelin and Lysandra are best mates. Lots of emotion.
