End of Chapter 6 -

"Martha!" You shout as the toclafane releases it's blades. "You need to go, now!" You're too focused on the path ahead of you, that you don't notice a second sphere coming towards you from a connecting path. The sphere pushes one of it's blades into your stomach, and you fall to the floor. Both toclafane follow Tom into the lightning field, and Docherty ignites it. They both fall to the floor, inactivated.

"Y/N, we did it! We caught ourselves a sphere!" Martha exclaims and turns to face you, but you're nowhere to be seen. "Y/N?" She begins frantically looking around the whole base, and sees you lying unconscious on the ground. You're bleeding out of your side, and your leg is bent an unhealthy way. You're laying on one of your arms, which is covered in cuts and bruises. "Y/N!" She shouts, running to your side.

"Y/N! Oh my God! How could you get hurt?" Martha exclaims, checking your pulse and tending to your wound.

"Second toclafane... it flew down a connecting path... I didn't see it, I'm really sorry." You breathe out. Martha moves to get the first aid kit out of her backpack, which she always carried with her.

"Y/N, it could have killed you!" Martha says, pressing some alcohol-soaked tissue to your side, cleaning the wound. You hiss at the pain of the alcohol seeping into the cut, and she pulls away from you. She turns and chucks the tissue into the bin before pulling out fresh dressing and bandages. "Here, hold this in place while I bandage you up. I can't believe how reckless that was. We shouldn't have pulled you along with us. The Doctor can take you home as soon as we finish this. If you don't want to stay, that is." She panics.

"I want to stay." You say, stopping her from rambling on any more.

She smiles at you before helping you stand up. "Come on, let's find out if Docherty has managed to break the outer case of the toclafane."

Back at the Workshop

"There's some sort of magnetic clamp. Hold on." She steps away from the workbench as she sees what's inside. "Oh my God! It's alive." Martha, Tom and you move over to the bench and look at the sphere. It's a human head! It's alive and talking! How is that even possible? There's no body! The head opens it's eyes and all of you jump back. You move behind Martha slightly, holding onto her shoulders.

"Martha? Martha Jones?" The head speaks. How does it know Martha?

"It knows you, how?" You ask.

"Sweet, kind Martha Jones. You helped us to fly. You lead us to salvation."

"Who are you?" She asks, moving her arm to hold your hand.

"The skies are made of diamonds."

"No. You can't be him. Oh my God!" Martha turns to you, terrified. Her grip on your hand tightens, and you look at her. There are tears forming in her eyes, and she hugs you. "They're us, they're humans. The human race from the future." She whispers in your ear, and your eyes widen. "The paradox machine, that must be how they're here and killing everyone. Break the paradox, no more toclafane."

Martha moves out of the hug, and turns to Tom and Docherty. "The Utopia Project was the last hope. Trying to find a way to escape the end of everything. The Master can only travel between here and the end of the universe, he must have found Utopia."

"But, that's the paradox. If they're the future of the human race, and they've come back to murder their ancestors, they should cancel themselves out. They shouldn't exist." You say.

"And that's the paradox machine." Martha concludes.

"But what about us? We're the same species. Why do you kill so many of us?" Tom asks.

"Because it's fun!" The head begins manically laughing, and Tom shoots it.

Docherty's Room in the Workshop

You all follow Docherty into her room out the back of the workshop. It's small and has loads of random gadgets dotted around, on shelves or literally anywhere she could shove them. She moves to sit on her bed. Martha moves next to you and wraps one arm around your waist, supporting you.

"Is it true, both of you, have you been travelling the world to find a way of killing the Master? Tell us, is it true?" Docherty asks.

"Just before we escaped, the Doctor told me that him and the Master, they've been coming to Earth for years. They've been watched. There's UNIT and Torchwood, all studying Time Lords in secret, and they made this the ultimate defence." Martha lets go of you, and reaches for her backpack. She pulls out a case, and opens it. Inside lays a gun-like device, with a squeeze trigger and four small cylinders along the top. Three vials of coloured liquid are also enclosed. "It's not so easy to kill a Time Lord, they can regenerate. Literally bring themselves back to life!"

"Great, the Master's immortal." Docherty sighs, "wonderful."

"Except for this. Four chemicals, slotted into the gun. Inject him, kills a Time Lord permanently. We've only got three chemicals so far, as the last one is in London. An old UNIT base, up north. We have the access codes, we just need to get there." Martha finishes, looking at Tom. "Can you get us there?"

Tom nods, and the three of you leave the workshop. You turn back to Docherty, and smile at her. She watches the three of you leave before laying down.

As soon as you left, Docherty turns to the high voltage box on the wall. She presses it and an Archangel communications device becomes visible. She demands to hear about the state of her son, but eventually gives into the computer's demands. "I have some information for the Master concerning Martha Jones and Y/N Y/L/N."

Back in England

Tom leads you and Martha to a house, and ushers you both inside. You look up and see around twenty people crowded in the hallway, all staring at the both of you. "Are you Martha Jones and Y/N Y/L/N? Can you do it? Can you kill him? Please tell us you can kill him!" One person demands.

You look at Martha and nod. She takes a seat on the steps and you stand next to the banister. You lean against it as Martha begins to speak about the Doctor. "We travelled across the world, from the ruins of New York to the fusion mills of China, right across the radiation pits of Europe. Everywhere we went, we saw people just like you, living as slaves. But if we become a legend, then that's wrong, because our names aren't important. There's someone else. The man who sent us out there. The man who told us to walk the Earth. His name is the Doctor. He has saves your lives so many times, and you never even know he was there. He never stops, he never stays, he never asks to be thanked. But we've seen him. We know him, I love him. We know what he can do."

You hear movement outside of the door, and make your way over. You squat down and peer out of the letterbox. You see the Master and some soldiers patrolling the street, "Martha! It's him! We need to hide!" You whisper-shout. The other people drag you over to where Martha is and cover you both in a large, brown coat. Tom moves to where you previously were, cocking his gun.

"Martha... Martha Jones. Y/N? I can see you! Out you both come, little ones. Come and meet your master. I'll give the order to shoot unless you both surrender. Ask yourselves, what would the Doctor do?" You look at Martha, who takes the key off her neck and begins to stand up. She holds her hand out for you to take, and you do.

You follow Martha to the door, and she takes Tom's gun from him. She opens the door and you both step out. "Oh yes. Oh very well done. Good little humans. He trained you both well. Give me the bag. Throw it on over." Martha takes her backpack off, and throws it in his direction. The Master pulls out his laser screwdriver and fires at the backpack, setting it alight. "And now, good companions, your work is done. Come along, back to the Valiant."
