End of Chapter 18 -

The Doctor turns to leave the console room and Jack follows him. Donna is left sitting on the chair facing the console. Suddenly, the TARDIS doors fly open and a Dalek enters. However, this Dalek is not like the others. The head and upper body are exposed and held up by a back support. Several buttons and switches line the area in front of the mysterious figure. "Donna Noble, I presume." He begins, and the blue light on his forehead flickers.

"Who's asking?" She retaliates, crossing her arms and standing up.

"The creator of the Daleks, Davros." He introduces himself.

"Doctor!" Donna screams out. Davros drives over towards her and stuns her with his finger. Donna falls unconscious as Jack and the Doctor return.

"Davros." The Doctor states, sternly.

"Hello Doctor, long time no see." Davros says. "Must have been a longer time for you though, new face. I prefer your old one, less threatening."

"Last I saw of you was the Time War, I saw you die. I saw your command ship fly into the jaws of the Nightmare Child. I tried to save you." The Doctor stutters, moving in front of Donna as she lay on the floor still unconscious.

"Dalek Caan saved me, Doctor. You were too late. He is stronger than you."

"Dalek Caan? You don't mean..."

"The last of the Cult of Skaro, yes Doctor. The very same Dalek survived the Time War, when millions of Time Lords failed to do so. Remind me, why did the Time War end so soon, Doctor?" Davros interrogates.

"I ended it. No more wars, not on my watch."

"Well, you're in luck. The reality bomb isn't a war, it's extinction. For all living organisms in the universe. Using the twenty seven planets my children ever so nicely collected for me, I can use them as an engine to energise the sheer volume of the detonation. All across the universe. You cannot say that is not genius, Doctor. Face it, the Daleks have won this time. You have failed." Davros enforces, moving towards the Doctor.

"Get out of my TARDIS!" The Doctor shouts.

"You're coming with me, and your companions too."

"Ha! No way." The Doctor laughs.

"Fine, my children will destroy this vessel." Davros counters.

"And you with it. Do you really want to risk that?" Jack interjects before the Doctor could respond.

"For success against the Doctor, anything goes."

Elsewhere on the Crucible

You're thrown to the floor, Mickey beside you. Jackie, Sarah Jane and Rose land a couple of feet away from you. "God, those things are even worse than vortex manipulators. I can't feel my legs!" You laugh. Rose looks towards you and laughs too, Sarah Jane doing the same.

"Come on guys, let's find the Doctor before the Daleks do." Mickey states.

"Right, yeah. Where could he be?" Jackie asks.

"If I know the Doctor, he's right at the centre of the drama." You answer and Rose nods.

"He'll be in the middle of it all, he always was. When I travelled with him, he was always thinking of solutions before stepping foot out of the TARDIS, just in case something went wrong. Let's face it, everything went wrong when travelling with him. That's what made it so fun! Let's go! Are there directions anywhere? Like a map of the Crucible?" Rose asks.

"It won't be translated unless the TARDIS is nearby, you know that Rose." Sarah Jane answers. "Follow me."

Corridor Outside of the Holding Area

"Prisoners will stand in the designated area. Move!" A Dalek instructs from inside the holding area.

"Prisoners?" You ask, "they're human beings. Not prisoners. These Dalek things are psychotic!"

"There's no way of bargaining with them though, Y/N. They won't listen." Mickey states, and you glare at him.

"I'm going to try." You bluntly say. You walk over to the nearest door and press the button next to it. The door slides open with a bang, and you step inside. You wander over to a Dalek, grabbing a wrench from the table next to it and hiding the weapon behind your back. The Dalek turns and shoots you in the chest, and you fall to the floor.

"Y/N! No!" Everyone shouts, whilst Rose just stares at the holding area.

"I hope you know what you're doing, Y/N." Rose whispers.

The Crucible's Vault

The Doctor, Jack and Donna exit the TARDIS. Davros follows, pointing his gun towards Jack as he carries an unconscious Donna. He places her on the floor and stands next to the Doctor. A blue casing encapsulates them both, but not Donna.

"I've got you right where I want you, Doctor. You and your precious TARDIS." Davros explains, "Dalek Supreme, it is your time to shine."

Donna wakes up and moves to sit. She moves her hand to hold her head. The TARDIS comes into view, so she stands and begins to run towards it, opening the door and stepping inside. "Doctor?"

"Donna! Get out!" The Doctor shouts, falling to the floor.

The TARDIS doors slam shut with Donna inside, instantly locking her in. "You are connected to the TARDIS, now feel it die." Dalek Supreme requests. The order is given, and the TARDIS falls into the Crucible's core. Instantaneously, the trap doors below the TARDIS open and the TARDIS sinks towards the core.

"Donna's still in there!" The Doctor shouts, rising from the ground.

"Let her go!" Jack demands.

"She went into the TARDIS of her own accord, Doctor. There was no stopping her, she killed herself. Oh, speaking of dead companions, there's another you should know about, in the holding area." Davros states, pressing a button on his support system. "Y/N. They died. Watch." The button pulls up a surveillance camera's footage of you running into the holding area.

"Y/N... what have you done?" The Doctor quietly asks, raking his fingers through his hair and falling to the floor once more. A tear rolls down his cheek as he watches the Dalek kill you, as another had done roughly an hour ago. "Why would you make me watch that?"

"They're reckless, Doctor. You take ordinary people and fashion them into monsters. I made the Daleks, Doctor, you made this. How many more will die in your name? The Doctor, the man who keeps on running, never looking back because he dare not out of shame. This is my final victory, Doctor. I have shown you yourself."

"But why Y/N? Why kill them?"

"They were in the way of testing, a small price to pay for salvation." Davros concludes. The Doctor turns back to the screen, where your death is being played on a never-ending loop and begins to cry. He really has turned people into monsters, and not just himself. You died for him, again, and he didn't try and save you, again. How many more times must you die for him to try and save you?
