End of Chapter 23 -
"Doctor, what's happening to her?" You panic, looking up at him.
"There's never been a human Time Lord metacrisis before now, because there can't be."
"I want to stay." Donna begins to cry, and you cry with her.
"The rest of my life, travelling in the TARDIS. The Doctor Donna. No. Oh my God, I can't go back. Don't make me go back. Doctor, please, don't make me go back." Donna begins crying harder than before. The Doctor crouches down to where you both are and puts his hands on either side of her head. Is he wiping her memory of us?
"Doctor?" You ask but don't get an answer back. Instead, the Doctor slumps to the floor with both hands over his face. Donna lays in your arms, unconscious. "Is she going to be okay?"

You and the Doctor take Donna back to her house, where her mother and grandfather live. You've met them briefly a couple of times, but never to had a full conversation with them. Wilfred is honestly the nicest old man you have ever met. He knows where Donna has been and knows the Doctor. Sylvia, on the other hand, does not believe in her adventures. The Doctor knocks on the door as you hold Donna upright. Wilf opens the door and instantly gasps. "Help us." The Doctor pleads. Wilf opens the door fully and you both step inside.
"Donna?" He asks. You sigh and he points you towards her bedroom.
"Where's Sylvia? We have to explain something to you both." You ask.
"In the kitchen making dinner. You both head to the living room and I'll go grab her." Wilf answers, leaving the room with you two following.

You and the Doctor take a seat on the couch opposite Sylvia and Wilfred. Leaning your elbow on the arm-rest of the couch, you sigh again as a tear rolls down your cheek. "She took the Doctor's mind into her own head. All that knowledge was killing her." You begin.
"But, she'll get better now?" Wilf asks, glancing towards the stairs.
"I had to wipe her mind completely, every trace of us and anything we done together." The Doctor continues.
"All those wonderful things she done..." Wilf sighs.
"That version of Donna is dead. If she remembers, even for a second, she'll burn up. You can never tell her, you can't mention us or any of it for the rest of her life."
"But the whole world's talking about it. We travelled across space." Sylvia argues. "How do we keep that a secret?"
"It'll just be a story. One of those Donna Noble stories, where she missed it all again." You slightly laugh to lighten the mood before turning away from everyone to look out the window.
"But she was better with you both!" Wilf exclaims, perking up in his seat.
"We just want you to know that there are worlds out there, safe in the sky because of her. That there are people living in the light, and singing songs of Donna Noble, a thousand million light years away. They'll never forget her, while she can never remember. For one moment, one shining moment, she was the most important woman in the whole wide universe." The Doctor begins to tear up as he speaks.
"She still is, she's my daughter." Sylvia states.
Donna enters the room, and you quickly turn your gaze towards her. She appears to be messaging someone on her phone, so she isn't looking at anyone. Your breathing hitched as she glances at you before back to her phone. "I was asleep on my bed, in my clothes, like a flipping kid! What do you let me do that for? Don't mind me, Donna."
"John and Eva Smith." The Doctor answers for you both.
"My phone's gone mad. Thirty two texts! What have I missed now? Nice to meet you both." She says as she leaves the room and goes to the kitchen calling someone on her phone. You stand up from your seat and follow her. She shuts the fridge door and you instantly wrap her in a hug. "What was that for? I don't know you." She asks, and you shrug before waving at her and leaving with the Doctor. As soon as you leave the house, you break down in tears.

The TARDISYou and the Doctor return to the TARDIS. The Doctor pushes past you and stomps towards the corridor, presumably to his room. However, you barely get in the doors before breaking down in tears again. You can't do it. You can't do this anymore. The Doctor comes back out into the console room and places his hand on the main lever. "Where to, Y/N?" He says sadly.
"Home. I want to go home." You state softly.
"Home?" He questions, walking over to you. "You sure?"
"I can't do this anymore, Doctor. All this destruction and ruin? It's too much for me now. I'm sorry, I really am, but I need a break." You reply, looking down with more tears falling.
"You can't leave me? Not after everything we've been through over the last year... please don't leave me." He says, also looking down at the floor. The Doctor turns on his heel and moves back to the console. "Okay, I'll see you again soon, Y/N. Promise you'll be there when I need you. Please promise me that." He pleads, looking up from the console at you. You nod in return, and he pulls the main lever down.
You can't bare to look at him, you let him down. You know you have. Instead, you turn on your heel and look out the window at the time vortex. It's beautiful and tranquil, peaceful even. The Doctor pulls away from the console and watches you, and an idea springs into his head. "Y/N, can we make a pit stop quickly? I need to show you something..."
"Okay, then please take me home." You whisper and nod.

The Crab Nebula
"Y/N, this is the Crab Nebula, or Messier One. See, nebulae are interstellar clouds of dust, hydrogen, helium and other gases. They are created from the waste matter of an exploding star, like a supernova. Sometimes, they can be regions where new stars are created. The dust and gases slowly get pulled together by the gravity in the nebula, once their gravity gets too strong the newly formed star collapses and the middle of the nebula heats up to create the star." The Doctor explains.
"Wow." You state in amazement, leaning out of the TARDIS doors slightly. The nebula consists of blue, red and green colours all webbed together to form an abnormally shaped spiderweb. The blue in the middle is the area of neutral oxygen, the red indicates signs of double-ionised oxygen particles and the green around the outside shows signs of single-ionised sulphur particles. You turn around to face him briefly.
The Doctor continues to explain all the different aspects of the Crab Nebula before continuing with his main point. "I can't convince you to stay, but I can show you what you're missing if you do go home. So I ask you again, Y/N, will you stay with me please?" He asks calmly, staring into your eyes pleadingly.
Before you could say anything back to the Doctor, the vacuum of space pulls you into it. You reach for the TARDIS door, but do not manage to grab hold of it. The Doctor begins panicking as he runs back through the console room to move the TARDIS towards you and save you. "Doctor!" You scream as you're pulled out of the oxygen bubble around the TARDIS and into the depths of space.
Will the Doctor save you?
