A slim hand gripped onto the doorknob of the familiar apartment on the west side of the luxurious building. Raindrops ran from his once-slicked black hair down to the neck of the secretive, rich man. The pair of dark sunglasses obstructed his clear vision under the thundering weather conditions as he struggled to open the door for a couple of minutes. Alas, the man ultimately gave up and stood outside of the door with a puzzled expression.

Instantly, he pulled his phone out from the left pocket of his sweatpants. The twenty-seven-year-old unlocked the gadget and began to dial a specific number. Impatiently, he began to shake his right foot against the doormat below his feet. "Come on, y/n," he whispered, knocking several times on the apartment door.

The noises that were being emitted from the clashing thunder was sending the male in workout attire into a spiral of emotions. Yes, he despised this type of weather, but his worry was inclining towards the well-being of his beloved sweetheart. "Please hurry," he said to himself, opening the message tab on his phone.

Hello? Y/n?
I'm outside your door, by the way.
I would really appreciate it if you took the time to actually open the door for me as a thank you from the previous favor. <3

The dark-haired male smiled at the thought of the last addition to his recent text. He rarely ever expresses his emotions in front of the public due to fears of the media going into a frenzy for his previous cases and works thrown around amongst reporters. His image and reputation was on the line, after all.

Daisuke has never once considered himself a weakling.

The public were in awe of the poised character he portrayed in the eyes of the media, but deep down...he stored away the sensitive man he was, which has only ever been witnessed by one of his assistants, y/n. His assistant has definitely kept him on his toes from the start of their relationship, both personal and professionally.

Daisuke scanned the perimeter of the doormat for any indication of a spare key. Much to his dismay, no luck was left behind for the detective. He groaned at the thought of the careless action of his lover. Who would have thought that his assistant would be so unprepared for these types of emergencies? Shaking his head, he brought a finger up to his chin and considered ordering his butler from home to assist with the purchase of finding the right key to her apartment.

Under the current predicament of his relationship with y/n, he knew better than to use money for measly satisfaction rather than on work-related expenses. "Where could you have possibly hid a spare key, y/n?"

His gray eyes then averted towards the rose bushes.

Could it be?

The twenty-seven-year-old shook his head once more. Sighing, he decided it was the last option he could take his chance on before consulting with his butler about the situation at hand. Rather than carefully rummaging through the individual flowers and stems, he chooses the latter; seeing as she cared for these roses more than anything in the world, he knew in an instant that it probably wasn't the best idea.

But—he could easily get those replaced with a beautiful assortment from only the best florists—so to Daisuke, it wasn't a huge deal.

Ultimately, he did end up finding a spare key, which revealed the inside of the apartment. Considerate of the cleanliness of the place, he took his wet shoes off and settled them near the entrance closet. The room smelled of the exquisite, vanilla candles he gifted her from a business trip on the other side of the country from a candle-making shop, which only made the corners of his lips rise at the thought of y/n with that glimmer in her eyes upon receiving the bag.
