The infamous detective strolled into the masquerade ball with a hand inside one of his pockets. His blue eyes contrasted nicely with the black mask he wore as he stood underneath the chandelier that hung above his head. His eyes quickly grazed over the entire ballroom; the outskirts of the decorated room was filled with people chattering amongst each other, drinking, and dancing. Everything about this event screamed rich, which the young man didn't mind one bit. After all, he had grown accustomed to these types of events at an early age. The wealth behind his family helped him be a part of these exclusive galas, but to the commoners— one had to prove that they were worthy of an invite.

The twenty-seven-year-old walked down a small staircase with a dramatic grace behind every step, nodding in the direction of respectable men and women of all ages, who contributed greatly to the family alliances and or the country as a whole. Steadily, he greeted them with more nods and smiles while they bragged about their luxurious outfits and jewelry. Making through the crowd, he found himself reaching for a glass from one of the butlers to soothe the nerves. However, the red wine made its appearance on his white dress shirt. "I am so sorry! I didn't mean to ruin your shirt!" a female voice apologized, standing still in her place as she tried to make sense of her recent wrongdoing.

Frustrated, the detective turned away from the woman, refusing to meet her eye in this embarrassing situation. Daisuke pushed through the other guests as an attempt to escape the ballroom. He did not want anyone to point the stain out, especially considering he was the guest of honor. However, that did not stop the woman from following behind the detective. Nearing an unfamiliar corner, she called the man out before stomping her foot against the floor. "Hey! Slow down, pal!"

"I am not your pal, darling. As a matter of fact, will you please stop following me? Are you some sort of creep?" the wealthy Kambe retorted, whipping his head around to face the woman behind the incident. His blue orbs settled on the woman with a white ball gown and a deep red mask covering her smooth complexion. Catching his breath midway through the final word, he shut his mouth, flushing a rosy pink. He stared at the woman for a brief second before shaking his head and chuckling to himself. "What do you want? Money? Is that what you want?"

"I never followed you for money. Who the hell do you think I am?" she asked, crossing her arms while raising an eyebrow. Her eyes darkened by the second as she handed him a death stare. Daisuke looked at the woman in pure amusement, inching towards the bathroom. Politely, he waved her over, allowing the mysterious woman into the small room. With a finger on his lips, he locked the door. "Why are we both in here?"

"You talk too much. A proper lady keeps her thoughts to herself," he responded, brushing the correct response to her question away without a thought. Y/n watched the man, who had basically kidnapped her, take a towel from one of the bathroom cabinets and drench it in soap and water. He scrubbed the stain on his dress shirt for several seconds and sighed in dissatisfaction upon the results. Much to his dismay, the stain was not leaving for quite some time. "Do you ever watch where you're going? This could have easily been prevented if you were cautious. You're lucky it was me and not the other men in the room."

Y/n scoffed. "Me? Lucky? Well gee, I'm really glad my prince charming saved me from the other monsters in that room."

Annoyed, Daisuke fisted his hands, taking in a deep breath. "You know, for a lady like you, I'm really curious to know how you even got invited in the first place. From the looks of it, definitely not by wealth. I'm dying to hear your story," he sarcastically replied, covering his dress shirt with his coat. Y/n glanced over at the man with the slick-black hair, noting the stiffness in his posture. Rich people things, she assumed.
