[ fluff content— daisuke x haru]

"You're taking way too long to get ready."
The wealthy heir sat on his bed, looking regal as ever in his life, while gazing over at the brunette from the corner of his eyes. Shaking his head, he watched as the stylists gathered around his partner, slightly starting an argument about the way his disheveled hair should be set for the gala. On the other hand, Haru sighed, slumping further into his chair as he waited for their bickering to end. "This was all your idea, Kambe," he mumbled, fidgeting with the watch around his hand. "The invitation said that the party starts at eight. You know, we could have been done by now if you had let me get dressed by myself just this once."
The blue-eyed man shrugged. "You could have stopped me from letting my stylists come in then. It might have been my idea, but I didn't force you to agree to it. Besides, it's not as bad as it might seem to you to make a late arrival." His eyes followed down the perfectly tailored navy suit his coworker wore with a maroon-colored bow tie. Smirking, he tapped a finger on his lips. "As that saying goes, the later the better."
Haru face palmed himself. "It's the sooner the better, not the later the better, stupid. Either way, I really want us to get there on time."
Daisuke understood where his partner was getting at, but completely shut the idea down. With his stylists already inside the room, prepping over the final look— there was nothing he could do to send them home. Although he could pay them to go home, that wasn't an option that Daisuke was willing to take upon seeing the sight of the brunette. As cheesy as it sounds, he wanted to spoil the man with an entire makeover for the night. "I'm sorry, inspector Katou. It looks like it's going to take more than ten minutes to get your hair presentable enough for the crowd."
The brunette frowned. To be utmost honest, Haru doesn't completely know why he ever agreed to be the plus one of one of the most wealthiest bachelors in the market right now. It didn't strike him or any other person that the crime-fighting duo would ever come to terms to such an arrangement. At the start of their partnership, it was a hassle having the wealthy man trail him and intervene with his every plan. Alas, the two had finally figured out a way to solve cases together with his brains and Daisuke's money.
The male and female stylist settled the argument in peace. They sat their tools down on the countertop and averted their attention to the tired-looking brunette. Haru was feeling self-conscious with three pairs of eyes on him. With a smug smile on his face, he crossed his arms and allowed the two to work on his hair. They snipped the ends of his hair and razored precise lines around his head to ensure a clean cut. Ultimately, they combed his hair back with a gel-substance, leaving the brunette quite astonished at the image in the mirror. He looked...richer.
Just like his partner.
"What do you think, sir?" the female chirped in a bubbly tone, showing off the finished masterpiece to the blue-eyed man. Haru threw a puzzled expression at the man, throwing him into a confusing loophole. Daisuke was unsure whether his partner was satisfied or upset with the overall makeover. The wealthy man prayed on the inside that Haru was just surprised, nothing more.
"It looks nice," he uttered, scratching the back of his head. With a respectable nod, he ushered the two stylists out of the room. Bidding the two goodbye, he spun his body around to face the brunette alone. "You look different, so to speak."
"Nice? Different? That's all I get?" the brunette playfully whined, brushing the small hair pieces from his shoulders. Staring at the mirror in front of him, the detective slightly turned to look at his back. The blue-eyed man walked towards the inspector and examined him from head-to-toe. Daisuke had to admit to himself that Haru cleaned up pretty well for a quick makeover. Too well. "I expected more out of your filthy mouth."
"Really?"
Daisuke embraced the man from behind. He pulled their bodies together, feeling the heat radiate from their skins through their tailored suits. The brunette flushed a rosy pink, nervously coughing to separate their contact. The wealthy man pulled apart, pretending to push his tie further up before smoothing out the creases in the dress shirt he wore. "I'm sorry," Haru whispered, fluttering his eyelids shut. "I'm still not used to this."
Embarrassed, Daisuke looked away from the brunette, pulling his phone out of his pocket as a distraction. Taking a quick peek, he went over to his dresser. Looking through his clothes, he pulled out a small bag. Haru recognized the bag and the designer company behind it. It had only been a month since they first made things official between the two, but he was beyond surprised that the man was already giving him these luxurious gifts. "It's okay," the wealthy man replied, patting the empty seat on the bed.
The detective sat down as directed. His eyes followed Daisuke as he revealed two rings in a velvet box. They were simple rings with diamond detail around the band, but it took his breath away. They were absolutely stunning. "I got these for us to wear tonight. This is the first time I'm introducing you officially as my boyfriend, so I thought it would fit the occasion. Before you jump into conclusions, no, this is not an engagement ring."
"So, a promise ring?"
"Well, technically speaking, yes," he declared, gulping. Daisuke ran a hand through his hair, lowering his eyes before reaching out for the hand of his coworker, aka lover. Rubbing circles on the top of his left hand, the Kambe heir refused to meet the golden eyes he loved in fear that he would reject the slight proposal. "What do you think?"
"T-Thank you, Daisuke."
The brunette pulled the detective by the tie and pressed a quick kiss against his lips. Daisuke melted under the two seconds that he kissed his partner and blushed. His ears and cheeks flushed a deep red while his blue eyes creased at the corners as he smiled. Haru rarely ever saw the man smile. It made his heart soar to know that Daisuke trusted him and let him into the intimate parts of his life.
"Ahem! Sorry to break the two lovebirds apart, but don't you have somewhere to be right now," a female voice interrupted, bursting the door open. The woman with similar blue eyes strutted inside of the room, flashing a sheepish smile while having a hand to her hip. Her gown cascaded in beautiful waves, which took the couple by surprise.
"Wow! You look amazing!"
Daisuke shoved the golden-eyed man off from the bed in mere jealousy, fixing his tie. "Enough said, Haru."
The detective and the woman bursted into a fit of laughter. The two men watched as Suzue walked out of the room in a matter of seconds. As Haru lifted himself off from the ground, he smoothed out the creases of his suit. Daisuke helped him with the places he couldn't reach. For once, Daisuke was actually cooperating and being useful for the brunette. Before leaving the room, the wealthy man took out the rings and slid them into his left ring finger, repeating the same notion for his partner. "This must have cost a fortune. Out of curiosity, how much were they?" Haru asked, stuffing a hand into his pocket.
The blue-eyed man followed his partner from behind. He walked in a composed demure until the ends of his lips creased up. "Nothing much. Not as much as I love you, that's for sure."
With a slight spank against his bottom, Haru whimpered.
"I really don't understand how I love you."
