Lux Bonteri's heart sank to his knees.
Ahsoka was really, really sick.
She was so underfed, her heart was protruding from her orange chest. Ahsoka's cheeks were tightly wrapped around her jaw, blacks eyes on either side, and her lekku were bruised and bloodied; not to mention browning.
But her external injuries weren't half as bad as her internal.
Three cracked ribs, a broken jaw, a shattered patella, a bruised lung, and somehow, contracted an arduous viral infection.
Not only that, but the nurse droid found it unusual for her to still be alive after nearly pruning to death.
Now Lux was distraught. Those injuries were going to take months to heal. And her knee? Would she be able to walk again?
Lux wondered what happened to her in the few months since the rebellion. Surely Master Skywalker would be looking for her?
How could she have been hurt this bad? Maybe a mission gone awry?
But that still didn't explain why two bounty hunters found Ahsoka instead of the Jedi.
Lux didn't realize he was pacing until one of the maids asked him if he were alright. He shook his head nervously, and waited for Ahsoka to be done with surgery.
Every standard second that ticked by, Lux hopefulness that he'd ever see Ahsoka again dripped away.
He'd never seen her body so. . . . violated.
He went over the actions with Ahsoka the last time he saw her. He had been very distant, but managed to smile at her.
Sadly, Lux Bonteri realized that maybe, just maybe, there was a reason Ahsoka had fallen into his grasp.
A few standard hours later, after Lux at refused any sort of food or drink, Ahsoka Tano finally came out of surgery.
She looked slightly better, her jaw pinned and her knee braced. And the doctors as well as the droids did good to make her montrals and lekku less. . . . damaged.
Yet, despite her maltreated body, Lux couldn't help but think that Ahsoka looked absolutely beautiful.
Lux watched as the droid moved her from the OR to a cot in another room. Then he noticed a wire coming out of her arm and assumed it was an IV drip.
Lux then watched as Ahsoka dropped her innards all over the bed.
He didn't know what to do.
Ahsoka Tano woke up to excruciating pain from her left patella.
She took a look at it, and then noticed she was connected to a tube. She was wearing a long, oversized shirt, and a big, ugly, and uncomfortable brace on her left knee.
What the hell? She thought. How did I get here?
Ahsoka scanned to see the extent of her injuries; noting a few bruises, and a wrap around her head and chest. She suspected broken ribs and jaw.
She looked around the room, and confirmed positively that it wasn't the Jedi Temple.
There was what she was connected to to the side, with a bag filled with some sort of liquid, and a heart monitor connected to it as well. To the right side of her bed, Ahsoka noticed another bag, this time with a dark yellow, almost brown liquid. There was another wire to this bag, and Ahsoka searches for the source.
Except, Ahsoka was the source. Her stomach churned as she realized she was hooked up to a catheter.
Ripping the needly wires out of their residences, Ahsoka stood up, albeit wobbly feet and a swirly head, and began to walk through the door.
The problem was, though, Ahsoka couldn't walk. Her left knee swelled with the roaring pain of just trying to stand on it.
What was going on? Ahsoka had never not been able to move before. Deciding to hop on one foot, she slipped and fell, landing on her backside. Frustrated, Ahsoka screams, then attempted to get back up.
"Screw it!" she yelled to herself. "Be a wimp on the floor, Ahsoka!"
It was at this moment that Ahsoka wished she was still with the Jedi. At least they would've helped her.
A few moments later, Ahsoka heard a familiar yet distant voice. "Would you like some help?"
Ahsoka looked up to see the owner of the voice.
Lux.
The exact person she was trying to avoid.
Ahsoka didn't say anything, but suddenly felt extremely self conscious as Lux's eyes skimmed over her body. Ahsoka couldn't help but let her lekku darken.
"Here," Lux said, walking over to the girl on the floor, extending his hand for her to take. Ahsoka was nervous, but took the hand anyway. Lux then hooked his arms under Ahsoka's armpits and hoisted her back onto the cot. He then light laid the blanket on top of her.
"Thank you," Ahsoka let out quietly.
"You're welcome." Lux walker over to the other side of the bed, moving the machine with the wires out of the way, then he sat next to Ahsoka. Lux couldn't help but look at her eyes. They were big and inviting. "You know, my shirt does look good on you."
Ahsoka tried to cower under the blanket from embarrassment. "Um. . . . thank you?"
Mentally, Lux slapped himself, while mentally Ahsoka did the same.
"So um," Lux started, "how have you been?"
"Fine, I guess. Until I got here." But they both knew that was a lie. She clearly was not fine.
Lux rolled his eyes and chuckled. She always did claim she had everything under control. "Mind telling me what happened?"
"Well, I'm not sure I know myself," Ahsoka replied timidly. Subconsciously, Ahsoka found her orange fingers in the pale ones of Lux.
"A mission of some sort?" Lux inquires, worried about the padawan.
"No. No mission," she replied, almost bitterly. Lux thought for a minute what it was about.
Suddenly, Ahsoka found Lux's face close to hers, mere inches apart. "I missed you, Ahsoka."
Smiling, Ahsoka nodded. "Me too." And it looked like the space was about to close, then Lux pulled away.
He cleared his throat. "Well, now that you're up, I'll go comm your master."
Ahsoka's eyes widened as she heard what he said. "No! You can't call them! Please don't call Anakin! He must not know I'm here. I was already found by you, I can't be by him." Ahsoka clutched onto his arm, forcing him to stay.
"Why? Don't you want to go back?" He looked into her eyes, and could see that she wasn't telling him something.
"Please, Lux! Don't ask for them to come." Hot, wet tears started pouring out of the Togruta's blue eyes.
Lux contemplated about her desires. He knew it probably would be a good thing to go back to the Jedi, but he also knew Ahsoka was hiding the truth from him. "Okay," he said finally. "I won't tell them you're here. But they might figure it out on their own."
A smile erupted onto the girl's pretty face. "Oh, thank you, Lux! This means the world to me."
Lux smiled, too. And was even shocked to find himself tightly wound by Ahsoka's arms.
Whooo a long luxsoka chapter! finally some fluff.
