Lux Bonteri stroked the right lek of his wife as she slept snuggled into his lap. She was dangerously gorgeous and just watching the way she glowed wherever she went; the way her sheer essence of royalty echoed through every medium she touched made his love for her double.

She was due any day now, and the thought of him being a daddy totally terrified him. His wariness of if he would be a good daddy escalated and the thought of birth complications haunted him in his wake and in his sleep.

And, well, the chances of complications were higher as their baby would be a hybrid.

Ahsoka had constantly reassured him that he would do fine as a parent; his experience with Luke and Leia and how he handled them was the greater proof that he would be awesome.

Little Luke and Leia were now nearing ten months, and crawling and attempted words that came out more like a babble, and Leia just loved sitting up and looking around at her surroundings.

Word from Padmé states the Council isn't suspecting toward Anakin as the father of her two children, and that Lux—as well as Ahsoka and Padmé, and even Anakin himself—were glad.  It would've been such a hassle trying to cover up that type of scandal.

But Lux was more afraid of people finding out that a Republic Senator fell in love with an ex-Jedi. Though he wasn't concerned for his reputation, he was more worried about how citizens would perceive Ahsoka; in the almost two years since her false conviction, many still treated her as a criminal when she'd walk into stores to buy basic necessities. Store associates would be even cruller to her when they'd notice she was pregnant with, as many thought of, a bastard child.

Which was quite the opposite. Nobody wanted to acknowledge the glittering wedding band that stood out firmly on her orange ring finger.

Most Jedi on the council weren't even willing to accept the marriage and pregnancy either. Mace Windu, a man Ahsoka always claimed as clipped and arrogant, stated that this type of relationship should be forbidden; even if she was no longer a Jedi, it was "bad news" for a Senator to be involved with people of "Ahsoka's lot."

The term "Ahsoka's lot" irritated the hell out of Lux. What was he trying to accomplish saying that? He was most likely referring to the way she ran away, and even with a confession from Bariss Ofee, Lux still thought that Mace Windu didn't think highly of Ahsoka after that—especially after her leaving.

But everything would be okay, no matter what any hooligan said. Lux Bonteri had is stunningly dazzling wife nuzzled in his arms and he couldn't be happier.

The way she sprawled herself over him as she slept made his heart burst into a trillion little particles. She was just so perfect in every form and fashion. His love for his darling wife grew at an exponential rate as every millisecond ticked by. Always and forever would Lux Bonteri be helplessly in love Ahsoka Tano Bonteri.

He glanced at her large belly; the one carrying a small life that would soon be in his arms. It was truly amazing to think he was a husband - a husband to the hottest woman in the entire galaxy, no less.

Lux and Ahsoka officially moved in together after their honeymoon to Alderaan, and the apartment they bought together on Coruscant had such a lavish view of the main city, that's where the married couple spent the majority of their time. Another great plus was Lux and Ahsoka, as well as their unborn baby and loth-cat Jawa, were less than five standard minutes away from the Skywalkers.

"Lux," Ahsoka moaned, turning to the other side to face Lux. "Lux my tummy hurts." It wasn't as she was carrying big; on the contrary, she was rather small for thirty-nine weeks, but today it was obvious the baby dropped and was getting ready to enter the birth canal.

"I bet he's already face-down." Lux protectively put an arm around his wife's stomach and grinned.

"We've been over this before, Lux. My motherly intuition says it's a girl, and well, that's what the Force is telling me, too."

"And I'm telling you the Force is wrong this time. It's a boy, and fight me you may, but it's a boy."

Ahsoka rolled her eyes. "It's definitely a girl, Lux."

"How many times have we had this conversation in the last nine months? I keep telling you we're having a boy and you never listen. Kriff, Anakin, why couldn't ya teach her to listen?"

"Stop it now," she mumbled while planting a teasing kiss on his cheek. "Well, whatever it is, it's gonna love its daddy more than anything. And definitely look the most like you."

"No. It's going to have your strong-willed nature and selflessness."

Anakin got the call at three in the morning. It was a state of panic-induced rush as the sleepy twins were left with the Organas. Padmé couldn't possibly have been more excited, whereas Anakin was more nervous at the thought of his Snips having a baby than his wife.

Rex, Fives, and Obi-Wan were already waiting outside of the delivery room when they arrived. Fives explained only Lux was allowed to be in the room when she was getting her epidural, so Padme would have to wait to go in.

"How is she?" Padmé asked while sitting next to Rex.

"It was over six-and-a-half hours before he called you guys and us. Doc said something about her hips not being wide enough or something."

Anakin was pacing, biting his nails and chewing his lip. This was probably the scariest moment of his life and most of his life was full of danger and scary themes. "Anakin stop panakin. It'll be okay," Padmé reassured.

"Sorry! Being a grampa is scary to me!"

"General. What's so scary about it? You literally didn't have this reaction when your wife went through this ten months ago," Fives chided.

"Well you wouldn't know because you don't have a daughter," Anakin snapped. Fives and Rex chuckled at their general. This was the man who wasn't afraid of anything, standing in a hospital absolutely terrified.

"Misstress Padmé," called the nurse after the laughter subsided. "Mrs. Bonteri requests your presence."

Padmé shot a smile at the four men and went inside to help with moral support.

Fourteen excruciating hours later Padmé called Anakin, Rex, and Fives into the room. Ahsoka was covered in sweat but had the smallest little bundle against her chest. Lux was at her side, beaming with pride at his wife and child. "Commander. . . ." Rex started, eyes already welling up with tears.

"It's a boy," Lux stated matter-of-factly. "I won this debate."

"Can I hold him?" Anakin begged, already short-of-breath from excitement.

"Of course." Ahsoka handed over her son and Anakin got a good look at him. He had Ahsoka's facial markings but Lux's facial structure and nose as well as skin tone. The baby sported the tiniest blue and white montrals with little ears. "Wanna know the name?"

"Yes, please."

"Anakin Rex Bonteri," Ahsoka said with a grin. The words made Anakin turn to the side and sob. He had never been so honored - and he felt like he didn't deserve it.

"Oh, Snips," he choked, shaking with happiness.

"You're not going to drop him, are you?" she teased. Anakin couldn't hold it in any longer; he gave the baby over to Rex and Fives as he slid down to the ground with tears. This moment had been special, and the fact that Ahsoka named her firstborn after him made him weak at the knees. Obi-Wan and Padmé did their best to comfort Anakin, but this was just too big of an honor.

This was a peaceful moment.

But little did they know this would be their last peaceful moment.
