Padmé Amidala awoke with the sudden urge to vomit.

That had been the sixth time that week.

On the first rotation, Padmé thought maybe it was a stomach bug. But by the fourth rotation, she began to think otherwise. This isn't any bug.

After she finished in the 'fresher, she turned to look at herself in the mirror. Nothing looked different about her, but something felt different about her.

Almost on instinct, she put a small palm to her belly. No, it can't be. Anakin had been away on Christophsis for two standard weeks now. She couldn't.

But something told her she was.

"No. Not a baby," Padmé muttered to herself. Although as shocked as Padmé was for it to be a baby, a certain happiness bloomed at the thought.

Padmé Amidala Skywalker was going to be a mother.

She could just imagine the two little feet dancing around the room. "Daddy!" they would call. Running and jumping into Ani's arms after a long day at the Jedi Temple. "I missed you so much, Daddy!"

Then Ani, carrying their little kid, would walk over to Padmé and give her the sweetest kiss on the lips.

Padmé couldn't help but envision a perfect life with Ani and their beautiful baby. They wouldn't need to worry about the order anymore. Worry about anything.

Life would be perfect.

Maybe they'd be a little Jedi? Or maybe practice to be a senator? There were so many possibilities for the little one.

This. This is why I live.

A few standard hours later, Anakin surprised Padmé with Alderaanian Flame-Lilies.

"You're home! Oh I can't believe it! Ani!" Jumping into her husband's sturdy arms, Padmé pecked his cheek. "I've missed you so much, Ani!"

Bending his wife back, Anakin lightly kissed Padmé's neck. "Something to tell me, Angel?"

Nodding with excitement, Padmé put her lips to Anakin's ear and giggled. "I'm pregnant," she whispered, barely audible.

"Did I hear that correctly? There's a baby? In you?"

Grinning, Padmé took Anakin's palm and placed it on her lower belly. "We're going to be parents!" enthused Padmé happily.

Anakin joined in with his wife's giggles, picking her up bridal-style, and swinging her around her apartment. "This is truly the happiest moment of my life!"
