It's been a few days since the incident (that's wha I'm calling it now), and thankfully none of my brothers have brought it up again. Mason always looks at me weirdly whenever he sees me. Almost like he's analyzing me. But I try not to notice it.

And guess what! August was coming to an end, which means that school would be starting in 3 weeks. I was finally satisfied that I had started to build relationships with all my brothers. Xander is a little cold, but still can be fun. Cole and I share a common interest in cooking, Alex and I both love the show friends. And lastly, Mason and I have a mutual connection. Nothing too fancy, but enough to make my heart ping.

"Xander, you will take Hailie back to school shopping today" Mason said during breakfast.
"What! Why me!'' Xander exclaimed while slamming his fork on the table.
"This is not a topic for discussion" Mason ended the conversation with Xander scowling, and Hailie smiling to herself.

A NEW LIFE

"Okay get in the car and I'll be out in 10" Xander said to me while walking upstairs. Probably to change since he was still in his pajamas. But nevertheless I did as he said and got in the car.
I waited for him for 20 minutes! 20! Now I was angry. I saw him coming out of the house, so I immediately crossed my arms, and looked out the window. I showed no emotion, which I mastered while being abused by Daniel. Xander got in and I could feel his gaze on me. He just sighed and started the car. When we were on the road, he started talking.
"You know, If you keep your face like that, it will stay like that."
I didn't respond. Xander knew that I wasn't going to talk, so he turned on the radio and put on really loud music. I rolled my eyes, and he seemed to notice so he turned it even more to the point where I thought the car was going into explode.

Thankfully, the store wasn't too far away and we got there after 5 minutes. I've never got out of a car faster. I waited for Xander to get out to go inside the store because the boys don't like me going to places alone.

We walked into the store together and I almost gagged. All the girls in the store were practically drooling over my brother and giving me nasty glares. But they immediately looked away when Xander gave them nastier glares back. We walked over to the school supplies section and Xander just stayed by notebooks on him phone while I walked around to shop. I turned around after getting some pencils, and I bumped into a wall. Or so I thought.
"Oh sorry!"
"It's fine" a masculine voice said.
I looked up and my eyes widened into saucers
"Luke!?" I said confused and suddenly really pissed.
"H-Hailie..." Luke immediately looked at the ground and I was fuming.
Lemme give you a little back story. I know Luke from my old town. We went to school together and were good friends. We even started to date for a little bit, but that soon ended when he cheated on me with Brittany, the school slut. I wasn't really sad about the relationship ending because that made lying easier. I just hated that I couldn't trust him anymore. He tried to convince me it never happened, but I didn't believe him. Which was good because a day after the breakup, him and Brittany started dating.

But right now god was not on my side. I immediately started to walk away. But a hand stopped me.
"Let go of me Luke" I said not turning back.

One more thing you should know, he was verbally abusive to me. He seemed sweet to other people, but when alone, he always commented on my body and how ugly I was. Which was another reason why I was happy when the relationship ended.
"Hailie can we talk"
"I'm busy right now"
"Please Hailie I-"
"No. Luke you can't come waltzing into my life again pretending that everything's going to be ok. I left you long ago, and I'm never going back."
But by hearing this, his grip only tightened. I could feel like hand carving onto my wrist.
"Luke stop! It hurts!"
"No hailie! You need to listen to me!"

Thankfully all my bruises have healed in the past few weeks except my ribs which I haven't told my brothers about yet. They're already so mad and upset about not knowing about the abuse, and knowing about my ribs would only make them go even more crazy.

My wrist felt like it was on fire. And I thought it was going to break any minute now.
Suddenly 2 hands separate Lukes grin from my wrist. I immediately brought it up to my chest and rubbed it, wanting the pain to go away. I looked up to see Xander punching Luke which saying... well I would rather not say.
I tried to pull him up but he only shrugged my hand away, so I just stayed to the side, not wanting Xander to get hurt, as I knew Luke was also strong and was hitting back.

I immediately ran to the manager at the front of the store, and made up a story so that only Luke would get in trouble.

Hey I can be smart too

The manager rushed over to the scene and pulled Xander off Luke. At this point I had long forgotten about my supplies until another worker said that she rang them up for me, and had paid for them herself. I kindly smiled and thanked her, but I needed to know if Xander was ok. He had a couple of bruises forming on his face and a cut my his eye brow and I started to feel so bad.

Once we got in the car I started apologizing.
"Xander I'm so sorry! I-I didn't mean for that to happen! I'm sorry! I should have just kept walking cause now your hurt! And then maybe you would have-"
"Hailie! Calm down. I'm fine"
"No your not! Your bleeding and your face is bruised A-And -"
"Hailie. Stop. I'm fine. But your not. Did he hurt you?"
"Um.." I took a quick glance at my wrist that was covered by my hoodie. I didn't want to worry them even more, but I didn't want to lie again...
"N-nope."
"Stop lying. Let me see your wrist."
I didn't move. I didn't want them to worry even more! It was just one time right? They would let it go? Ugh! Nothing goes past my brothers! But either way, I wanted to get comfortable with Xander, so I reluctantly brought my wrist up to his open hand.
He gently grabbed it and pulled my sleeve up. His eyes darkened and his jaw clenched as he saw the bruise. Even I was surprises. The bruise was now purple and yellow, and you could easily see where his flangers grabbed me.
"Hailie. Do you know who that was?" Xander asked coldly. All his emotions from before gone
"Y-yeah..."
"How"
"He went to my old school..."
"Hailie, I need you to listen to me very carefully. You should NEVER and I mean NEVER go near him again. If you ever see him again, don't talk, look or breath near him. Tell one of us if you see him."
"But why..."

Even though I didn't even want to go near him again, I wanted to know why Xander was being even more overprotective and how all my brothers knew him.

"He's dangerous"
