CHAPTER 31

THE NEXT MORNING

ALEX'S POV
Me, the boys and the girls had been walking in this tunnel for god knows how long. We had no sense of time but I could tell that it was morning by now. We had decided to take a small break and all the girls were sleeping while me and the boys kept a watch. "I'm so happy they are going to finally meet their mates" Jacob said with a small smile on his face. "I know right. They have been through so much already and now they are finally going to be with the ones that they are meant to be with" I said. "you know I can't help but remember our mates. If they were here with us they would've also been so happy" Lucas said with tears in his eyes. Immediately my mind went back to that horrible day....the painful day on which we lost our mates. We know that moon goddess will take the best care of them but still I wish they were here...with us. I could feel tears pooling up in my own eyes but I immediately blinked them away. "guys this is not the time to go weak. The girls need our help and we can't let them go through the same pain that we went through...the pain of loosing your soulmate" I said with the utmost determination in my voice. The boys nodded and we sat back in silence, each of us consumed by our thoughts. Suddenly a movement caught my eye and I looked up to see Crystal waking up from her slumber. "what is happening?" she asked in a sleepy and confused voice. "Good Morning, or atleast that I think it is morning" I said to her and she looked around in confusion. "oh right.." she sighed remembering where we all were. "we should get going, we never know if the Lycans decide to come early. We don't have time to waste" Jacob said and I nodded. We woke up the rest of the girls and gave them a moment to collect themselves. Once they were ready, all of us started walking further into the tunnel.

I sincerely pray that luck is on our side!

ABOUT HALF AN HOUR LATER...

ASHLEY'S POV
All of us had been walking for what felt like forever when suddenly Jacob and his friends stopped in their tracks. "guys is everything ok?" I asked them. Lucas motioned me to stay quite and I could see that they were concentrating on something really hard. I looked at the girls but they returned me the same confused look. Before any of us could utter another word, Lucas grabbed my arm and pushed me behind him. I looked around me and saw that his friends had done the same to my friends. All of them were standing in front of us in a protective stance. "guys what's happening?" I heard Rose ask in a panicked voice. "there's someone coming from the other side of the tunnel" Jacob answered, his eyes trained in the front. "...and they're werewolves" James completed and I was frozen in my spot. C-could it be them?. My heart started beating out of my chest just at the mere thought that it was our loves on the other side, but then another thought came to my mind. W-what if it was the Lycans?!. I shook my head furiously, trying to throw the thought out of my mind. No it can't be! They aren't supposed to be back from their trip until tomorrow and even if they did come early, they could only enter this tunnel thought the mansion. I tried to calm my fear by these thoughts but in the deep end of my mind I knew that the Lycans were capable of anything. Suddenly I heard a sound coming from the front of us. The sound of footsteps!. I trained my eyes in front as well, my heart feeling like it weighed a ton. There was pin drop silence around us, nobody dare even breathe. The only sound we could heard in the tunnel was the sound of the approaching footsteps, and they were approaching fast. I held my breath as my eyes continued to stare ahead. Jacob and his friends already had their claws out, ready to fight if the situation demanded. After a few moments of pure dread, we saw figures coming in our direction. The moment I laid my eyes on them my body started to shake violently. There were 5 figures approaching us, it had to be them!. Tears threatened to fall from my eyes as I thought what the Lycans would do when they take us back to that horrible place. As I concentrated on not letting my body fall down on the ground in sorrow I took one last look at the figures that had now stopped in their tracks and where staring right at us, but as I trained my eyes on one of them, my heart stopped. I could feel the adrenaline rushing through my veins as my black eyes stared into his beautiful brown eyes, and before I even knew it my legs were running towards him at an unimaginable speed. "Scott!" I shouted as tears fell from my eyes down on the ground. He stood there with his arms wide open and tears falling down his face too. I increased my speed and jumped into his arms the moment I reached close to him. I burst into tears as I held onto him tightly, afraid that he would disappear any moment. I was practically squeezing him like a lemon. "it's all right hun i'm here now" he said hugging me tightly and placing his palm on the back of my head. I breathed in a sigh of relief as I experienced the moment. After a few seconds, I separated from him to look back as I heard footsteps coming from behind me.

CRYSTAL'S POV
I jumped into Tyler's arms the moment I reached close to him, tears spilling out of my eyes non stop. "I missed you so much!" I sobbed as I finally held him in my arms. "I missed you too love" he said as he hugged me even tighter, slightly lifting me from the ground. We stayed like that for a while and he eventually placed me back down. I looked up into his beautiful brown eyes and smiled like I had never before in my entire life. I looked around to see Zoey, Sarah and Rose in Zayn, Mason and Noah's arms and Ashley standing beside Scott, holding hands. I heard footsteps coming from behind us and I turned around to see Jacob and his friends stading there, looking at all of us with big smiles on their faces. "so I am guessing you are Tyler, Zayn, Scott, Noah and Mason" Jacob said as he looked at each one of them while he took their names. "who are you all and what were you doing with our mates" Zayn said in a threatening tone, his eyes growing red. "Zayn these are our friends. They are the ones who helped us in finding you guys" I said in a calm voice. He turned to look at me with a confused face, his eyes turning back to their normal colour. "guys, we'll tell you the everything once we reach somewhere safe
The Lycans could come back anytime" Jacob said and Tyler looked at me with a cautious glance. I took his hand in mine and nodded confidently. He took it as a sign that they could trust Jacob and his friends. "fine" Tyler said gaining everyone's attention. "we shall go back to the island where the Lycans sent me and my friends and once we're there we can devise an escape plan" he completed and everyone nodded.

With that all of us started moving through the tunnel again. I knew it would take a lot of struggle and efforts to get out of this horrid place but this time I had my soulmate's hand in mine and I knew that with him and my friends by my side, I can conquer any challenge!.
