-Davy-
"Should we all go buy outfits together?" Sam asks the next day at lunch. I begin eating my sandwich to try and dodge her question, I really don't like shopping. But I'll go if Sadie does.
"Yes!" Sadie chimes in. "We should go after school today. Um, you, me, Davy, and- Is there anyone else who's coming that should come shopping with us?"
"Actually, that's what I wanted to say. Adam and Kate were invited too, I think. Oh and your cousins Davy!" Sam says a little too enthusiastically. I see Sadie pale at the last part.
"You haven't met both of my cousins yet, how would you know they are invited." I ask, suspicious.
"Oh I met your other cousin, Erica, in my English class!" She says, eating her apple.
"Right." I say.
"She seemed really nice." Sam says. "And honestly Reid is really cute." Sadie pales even more, she's not touching her food. Great, Reid's already got Sam on his side. But why- Sadie seemed to like him earlier, unless-
"Sadie?" I ask, trying ignore Samantha's comment about Reid.
"Mhm?" Sadie responds lifting her eyes to mine and forcing a smile.
"Did something happen?" I ask, I place a hand on her shoulder. She pales even more. What did he do to her? Sadie's silent for a moment.
"No- I mean- yes- I don't know." She puts her face into her hands and I can hear her crying softly.
"Did Reid do something?" I ask, my blood boiling. "If he did I-"
"I was going to my locker after lunch-" She pauses and doesn't meet my eyes. "Reid followed me, he said he was just being friendly-"
"That son of a bit-"
"-I asked him what he wanted-" He wants you, Sadie. I think, she continues. "-he didn't really answer. So I turn to leave but he grabs my wrist and then pulled me to him by my waist. And I yelled at him to let me go. But he wouldn't, and when he finally did, I ran. He said he was just- being friendly." Sadie's sobbing into my shirt and I'm in disbelief. "It felt so wrong, Davy, I was so scared." She looks up at me.
"The f***ing son of a b*tch!" I stand up. "Where is he? I'll, I'll- he can't touch you!" I scan the room to find him, I don't see him. Sadie pulls me back down. She looks into my eyes.
"Davy, you don't have to-" I look around again, I see him walk in. He waves and heads to the lunch line. How dare he pretend like he didn't do what he did to Sadie. I jolt out of my seat and head towards him, but something stops me.
"Davy, I said you don't have to." Sadie has a hold my wrist and she is pleading with her eyes.
"Okay, I won't." I may be mad, but I know how to take a hint.
"You don't need to cause more than one fight in a week." She says, pulling me back to the table. Sam is wide-eyed in disbelief. She pulls Sadie into a hug. I have to keep Reid from messing with Sadie, it's obvious he wants her. For what? I have no idea, nothing good. I turn to Sadie.
"Can I ask you a question?" She turns to me and I pull her to me by her waist and look into her eyes. She looks at me like she wants me, not Reid. I relax. Sadie nods. "Will you be my girlfriend?" I ask. Her eyes light up and I can hear Sam "awing" from the other side of the table. "I know it isn't the best time, but I just-" I don't get to finish because Sadie pulls my lips to hers. I guess that's her answer.
"I'd love to." She says, pulling away, I pull her back in so I can whisper in her ear.
"Don't worry, Reid won't come shopping with us. I won't let him near you." I feel Sadie relax in my arms.
"I would like to meet Erica." She smiles up at me. I nod. She mouths a "thank you to me" and I smile. I smile at my girlfriend. I like the sound of that.
