Chapter 10 (A Date?)

After Oat drop us at our hotel, we all was so exhausted and everyone hurriedly go back to their room. While I was walking, Harris call my name.

"Yan" He called.

"Yes Harris? Is there any problem?" I asked.

"Urmm, no. Just want to ask, do you have any plan tomorrow?" He asked shyly.

My heart fluttered, did he want to ask me for a date? I'm sooo happy! As happy as a clam. But I restrained myself from showing too much excitement. I control my face so I didn't smile too wide and answer his question.

"No, I don't have any plan... Why?"

"Do you.. urmm.. do.. you want to go out with me?"

That's it!! I think my heart gonna explode from beating too fast!!!!

"Yeah... sure. Is it just the two of us?"

"Yes, I mean no. I mean if you are not comfortable with me, you can bring Lara with you" He said while scratching his head.

"Okay! See you tomorrow, I will wait for you at the lobby. Don't forget to text me!" I replied before I quickly run to my room because I can't contain my excitement anymore. But then I remembered, he doesn't have my number. I run back to him.

"Urmm.. I'm sorry. I think you doesn't have my number. Give me your phone"

He gave me his phone then I type in my number as fast as I can.

"Here, see you tomorrow!" I said to him before continue my run to my room. He just standing there wondering why I'm being like that.

When I arrived at my room, Lara is already in the bathroom. I patiently wait for her to come out from the shower. I walk back and forth while thinking what I should wear for tomorrow. Did I bring any decent cloth? Oh noo, do I have any decent cloth? Suddenly all my cloth seems ugly.

I went through my luggage and give up. Why don't I bring anything nice? Finally, Lara come out from the shower.

"Oh my goodness! What happened here? Is there any storm while I was in the shower?" She said as she referring to all my cloth scattered around the room.

"Lara! Help me! Harris want to take me out tomorrow but I don't have nothing to wear except a bunch of hoodies!" I pleaded for Lara's help.

"What!!?? Harris want to take you out? OH EMMM GEEE! YOUR DREAM COMES TRUE!" Lara shout loudly.

"Urghhh, we can't have a high expectation yet. He maybe just considered me as one of his friend. I can't be too happy. Let us control ourselves" I said and sigh.

"Yeaaa right, said the one who went through all her stuff just because he ask to bring you out. Well yeah, sure. WE CAN'T BE SOO HAPPY" Lara said while emphasize the word happy.

I just laugh and hit her with the pillow.

"Come on, seriously. What I'm gonna wear for tomorrow?"

"Girl..... there is nothing wrong with hoodies. Hoodies can also make you looks gorgeous. Don't worry! I will help you. Ahhhh, I'm so jealous of you." Said Lara.

"If you are jealous of me, why don't you just accept Sammy?" I tease her. My answer received a glare from her.

"Uiiii, what a sharp glare you have, it's okay Sammy will always like you no matter how you look." I continue to tease her and this time she hit me with the pillow. We fight for a while and laugh hysterically.

"Go take a shower you rotten pumpkin!" said Lara.

I stick my tongue and make my way to the shower.

The Next Day

"Yannn, sit properly and don't move. If you keep moving, I can't do your makeup" Lara scold me.

I'm not used of wearing makeup. When Lara said that she wants to do my makeup, I shake my head vigorously. But who can defeat Lara? No matter what is your answer, if she wants to do it. She will get it. That's why I agreed for her to do my makeup but keep reminding her to keep it as simple as she can.

"Done!" she said and then turn my face to the mirror. Pheww, I'm shocked with her skill. Although the makeup is not too thick, but it can make my face glow.

"Woww, you do have a magic hand" I said while holding her hand. She flips her hair and starts to think highly of herself. I chuckled softly.

Ping!! I got a message from Harris said that he already at the lobby.

I quickly take my wallet and said thank you to Lara before I leave my room.

From afar, I could see Harris standing handsomely at the lobby. Is there any moment that he isn't looking so handsome like that? I ask to myself.

"Hye!" I said cheerfully.

His eyes fixed to me for a while before he clear his throat.

"Hye.. urm.. you look beautiful" He said while keep looking at me.

I smile and because I'm so shy, I keep staring at the floor.

"Thank you" I said.

"Should we go now?" He ask politely. I nod and we go to our destination using a grab car. He brought me to airport and I look at him weirdly.

"Why do we went to airport?" I ask him.

"Secret, don't worry. I already paid your ticket. Just considered it as a treat from me because you want to go out with me" He explain. I just followed wherever he go since I'm not so good with the direction. I look at the ticket and it stated that we will go to Udon Thani.

"Udon Thani? Did we want to go and see water lilies? That is the famous place there" I ask him. He laugh before answering my question.

"Yes Ms Detective, I thought I want to give a surprise for you. Remind me to never underestimate your knowledge" He replied.

The trip from Bangkok to Udon Thani by flight only takes 45-minutes. I always heard about that Talay Bua Daeng (Red Lotus Lake) but never been there before. The place is tucked away in a quiet district in the north-eastern province of Udon Thani. I also heard that there is a legend about the lake.

"Have you heard about the tragic love triangle related to the lake?" I ask Harris.

"Nope, what is it about?" He look at me interestingly.

"Well, there is a story said that before this, a tragic love triangle involving a Princess called Nang Ai and two of her suitors, Prince Phadaeng and Prince Pangkhee." I said as I take a glance to see if Harris is still listening to what I said. Then I continue..

"This is an interesting story since this story involves magical kingdoms, reincarnation, love, rejection and revenge. In the past life, Princess Nang Ai is a wife for Prince Pangkhee but Princess Nang Ai always pray that she will never be his wife again. In that time, Pangkhee turn to a squirrel to spy Princess Nang Ai, Princess notice that and kill him. Pangkhee's dad was so angry at that time and that cause the death of Princess Nang Ai. Phadaeng wanted to avenge the death of Nang Ai and a fierce battle ensued with an army of mythical nagas." I stop to take a deep breath.

"Wow, so what happen next?" Harris ask curiously.

"Well, the serpent army flooded the scene of the battle and that resulting to the formation of Nong Han Lake. Which is the lake where the water lilies are. This is based on the story that I read, if I'm not mistaken there is a lot of version for this legend" I explained.

Harris nodded.

"You sure read a lot" He said. I just smile sweetly at him.
