Chapter 14 (Why)

As promised, when I arrived at Malaysia, I texted Oat. After that, Lara's offer to drive me home. Although technically her driver that drive us home.

"I'm home!" I said as I enter the house.

"Where is everybody?" I look around but I can't seem to see anyone. I go to the kitchen and saw a sticky note at the fridge. It says...

We are going out to buy some groceries! If you are hungry, there is some food on the table. Rest well!

I sigh, I expect to see them as soon as I arrived at home because I miss them so much. I put my bag on the sofa and plop myself down. I scroll my phone and not long after that I received text from Oat.

'Tired?'

'Nahh, I still can do a 5km marathon. Then do 100 push up. Of course I'm tired you silly.'

'Huhh, still fierce as ever. Okay take a rest. Talk to you later'

After that, I take my bag to my bedroom then put out all the dirty cloth and put it into the washing machine. Then I take a bath to refresh myself. After finish, I watch the television in the living room. I look at the clock and it shows 10 pm. Where is everyone?

"Did they buy groceries or they crop the plant from the farm?" I said to myself. Then I dial my brother's number. He did not pick up my phone. I tried again but this time I call Day's number. Still, he also did not pick up my call. Lastly, I tried my mother's number and as expected, she also didn't pick up the call.

I started to worry. What happen to them? I can't focus on the show that been air on the television. My mind keep thinking about them. I wait and wait for them until I fall asleep on the sofa.

I woke up to the sound of rustling around the house. I look around and I see darkness.

"When did I turn off the lamp" I ask myself. I walk to the switch and turn on the lamp.

"SURPRISE!!!!!!!" I could see my mom and my two brothers holding a cake. Then they start singing birthday song.

So, this is what they have been up to. No wonder they were missing for the whole day.

"Blow out the candles sis" Day Said.

I blow out the candles then cut the cake into small pieces. Then I hug my mom and my brothers.

"Awww thank you mom, thank you my two handsome brothers. You guys make me worried, I thought maybe you guys has been kidnapped or something"

"Well, you always know when we lied about something. That's why we avoided you" Said Dew.

Then my mom approaches me and gave me a present.

"What is this?" I asked them

"Open it!" my mom said.

I open the small box and I could see a beautiful bracelet with my name engraved on the bracelet.

"Wow! This is beautiful! Thank you again!" I said while looking at my family with tears.

"Ahhh, here we go again. Today is your birthday. Don't cry sis." Day said while eating the cake.

"Hey! Why did you eat the cake? Isn't it supposed to be mine?" I ask jokingly.

"I changed my mind, cry as much as you want. I want the cake" I just laughed at his answer.

Then we eat the cake the food that they have bought.

"Ohh before I forget, I also bought something for you guys" I said then run to my room.

"Here" I give a bag each to Day, Dew and my mother.

"Wow! A t-shirt, thanks sis! Oh, you also bought keychain. I can give some of the keychain to my friends." Said Dew.

"I think, if I wear this t-shirt, it will increase my handsomeness." Day said while trying to put on the t-shirt.

"You are exaggerating" I replied.

"Thank you for the fabric. I can send it to the tailor so she can make me a set of Baju Kurung" said my mom.

After we finished, we clean the kitchen together and then we watch a movie.

"Sis, you must have took a lot of picture there. Let me see" Said Dew.

I take my phone and gave it to Dew.

"I want to see it too" Day said and he sit beside Dew.

"Nothing interesting, just pictures of me and my friends, but Bangkok is really fun. People there also kind to us" I explain.

They continue to scroll the photos on my phone. Then suddenly Day shout

"Whatt??? Whyy are you shouting?" I ask him

"You have a picture with Oat Tanawat? The famous actor???" He ask and bring the phone to my mom.

"Look mom, you like him right?" Day ask my mom.

"Yannn. Why you didn't tell me that you meet him? I could ask you to take his autograph." My mom ask me while scrolling my phone.

"I will ask him later" I said casually.

"Later?" Dew asked me.

"Yeah, I have his number" I replied.

Then a notification pop up on my phone.

"Yannn!!!! Who is market pervert?" Day asked.

Speak of the devil. I said to myself.

Then I told my family about how I met him and why I put his name as market pervert. I didn't tell them about all the souvenir that Oat gave me. That might make their imagination run wild.

"Wow, that's like in a novel." My mom said,

I just shrugged. Then I took my phone from Day and reply text from Oat.

'Hello stranger' He said

'Why are you not sleeping yet? It is already late' I ask him as I take a glance at the clock. It is already 1:00 in the morning.

'What a coincidence, I was about to ask the same things to you' He replied

I rolled my eyes then I type in my message.

'My family make a surprise for me. Today is my birthday'

Then my phone vibrate to indicate that there is an incoming call from him.

'Helloooooooo birthday girl! Happy birthday to youuu.. Happy birthday to youuu. Happy birthday to Nin Yanna.... Happy Birthday to youuuu' he sang enthusiastically.

I laugh at his action.

'Thank you Mr. I'm getting old, where is my present? ' I said jokingly

'You can take my heart if you want' he offered.

'No thanks' I replied.

Then I heard him sigh.

'Why don't you remember me?' He ask me.

'I do remember you, you are Mister Pervert from the market.' Then I laugh at him.

Little that I know, there is something that I should remember. Then we just continue to tease each other and then decided to end up the call because it was getting late.

After finished, I went to the living room and everybody has already gone. I turn off the lamp then headed to my room to get a nice and comfy sleep.
