Connor's question hang in the air for several minutes before she answered, "I'm a familiar, just not a familiar like Salem."
"You mean not a goblin," Connor said, "Begs the question: what are you?"
"Well, I..."
She trailed off, Connor knew he was prying hard, but after seeing her manifest as a human in his dream, he needed an answer. He threw the deadbolt on his door.
"Can you and I talk, like a verbal talk?"
With the blink of an eye, Connor's white fox was gone, replaced by the same girl he'd just seen in his nightmare.
"Thank you," Connor said, "So, please explain, I can only handle so much crazy tonight."
"As I said, I'm a familiar," 'Luna explained, "I'm just not like Salem, I'm not native to your part of the world."
"A familiar with the ability to shift from fox to human and back, not native to my part of the world, that would make you--" He was cut off.
"A kitsune," She finished for him, "That's why you had to wait so long between summoning a familiar and me showing up."
He pinched the bridge of his nose, "What the unholy Hell is happening anymore? Why didn't you tell me until now?"
"I was afraid you'd react poorly," She said quietly, "It was the wrong decision, but I didn't know what else to do."
"I understand," Connor replied, her letting out a sigh of relief, "You've saved my life too much for me to be mad at you, I'm sorry you felt too uncomfortable to tell me this."
She sprang forward grabbing his hands, "No, it wasn't you, it was me, I just--I didn't want me being able to do this to startle you."
Noticing what she was doing, 'Luna quickly let go of his hands as he responded to her, "You said you were 'a familiar' not 'my familiar', so what's stopping you?"
"Well," She blushed slightly, "We'd have to form a contract and those can only be sealed by..."
"By what, 'Luna," Connor asked, fairly certain that he knew where this was going.
"A kiss," She said quietly, looking down, "A contract has to be sealed with a kiss."
"Okay then."
"I know it's weird and that you probably won't--wait, did you just say 'okay then?'"
"Yeah, I mean, I never saw you as anything less than my familiar before now," Connor said, "And even knowing that you're a kitsune, it makes no difference to me, as a matter of fact, I think it's amazing."
