Neji and (Y/n) are covered in bruises and cuts by the time the sun had set.The (h/c) haired kunoichi is currently healing the brunet's deep cut despite the latter's protest of the girl's decreasing amount of chakra.
Neji had already killed his two opponents as (y/n) kept hers alive to get more useful information about their mission and have answers to her personal questions.
She looked at the Kiri ninja, ignoring the stares she's been receiving from Neji, thinking he'd get tired of looking at her for so long.
"Would you stop that?" She finally snapped her head at her teammate, unable to contain her discomfort for another minute.
Neji looked at the opposite direction from her as he sighed,"How come you're so familiar with the techniques of a Kirigakure ninja?"
"You're a kunoichi of Suna." He murmured to himself,"How come you also posses water release?" He asked, not being able to contain his curiosity anymore.
"You don't have to know that." She coldly answered, not wanting to go back to past.'It's alright now,(Y/n).You don't have to worry. The war is over and Kirigakura changed for the better .' She comforted herself.
"You don't trust me." Neji looked hurt but (Y/n) only gave him a glance before standing up.He stated it in a way where it is more of a statement than a question.
"I need to send a report to Shika.Excuse me." She tied their hostage before summoning back her messenger falcon.
He stared at her back, searching his memories if any of Suna ninja used water release before.Who is she? He thought, growing more and more curious as seconds pass by.
"We'll camp here for tonight." She said after sending her falcon away."I told them to follow the original plan despite this situation." She continued.
She pulled out some of her pills which she made before. She ate one herself and fed Neji the other.
"What's that? Why does it taste like Crape Myrtle?" Neji asked as he looked at her.
"It's a Hyorogan.I made it myself." She answered.
Hyōrōgan are special pills that nourish the body and can replenish one's chakra which they badly needed right now.
Neji smiled at her as she approached him and wrapped her arms around his waist while he wrapped his on her shoulders. She helped him move to the base of a big tree to use it as a temporary shelter from the wind for the night.
"I'll take watch for tonight, take a rest." She said as she set him down.
"No,you rest,I'll watch." Neji protested.
She rolled her eyes before retaliating,"I'm in better shape than you, don't be stubborn."
Neji stared at her, displeasure was clearly shown in his face,"Then neither of us would take a rest then." He said stubbornly,Since when did I act this way? He thought, not even him believing his own stubbornness.
They sat there in silence,(Y/n) doesn't have the strength to even deal with Neji's stubbornness so she let him be.She knew it herself she's tired, but refused to take a rest, her past has come to hunt her once again and keeps on bothering her.
"I'll collect firewoods." She said before standing up.She scout their surroundings as she picked up some firewoods.
She came back after sometime and started a fire to somehow help them to keep warm from the night's temperature.
An hour or so passed by and she decide to walk around to keep her mind busy, she looked at him, expecting to see her wounded companion to have fallen asleep by her side only to be taken aback by a pair of lavander eyes staring back at her with curiosity and worry. She was a bit shocked to see him still wide awake not to mention, staring at her for who knows how long.
She sighed as she leaned at the trunk of the same tree, more or less two feet away from him.Their fire was now in front of the two of them.
She knew he was curious about her past and all,but she don't know if telling him about it would make her uncomfortable or help her get it off her chest.
Deciding it would be the lather she looked at him,"You do want to know where I came from, don't you?" She asked after a couple of debate with herself.
Neji was surprised to hear her question but manage to answer with a nod before she change her mind and not tell him.
"Well, the sand siblings and me are actually fourth cousins from my mother's side. But I'm originally from Kiri." She started.Neji slightly leaned in to have a better hearing of what she was saying.
"I became a genin before running away from the village and somehow made my way to Suna where I met the sand siblings and uncle Yashamaru." She pulled her knees close to her chest as she stared at the fire in front of her.
"Uncle Yashamaru is the brother of their mother and also Gaara's caretaker. We became close as time pass by.Until that one day where everything changed." She stopped as she recalled the time where Gaara changed into someone she never knew.
"Gaara became so distant from any of us.He became someone we never knew.He even nearly killed me with his sand." She chuckled bitterly.
"He never hurt any of us no matter how everyone around us call him names until that day.I was forced to leave them and return to Kiri by the order of the Fourth Kazekage,Lord Rasa, which is also Gaara's father." She continued.Neji was by her side, listening carefully about her past.
"My father is not a ninja but is great in Kenjutsu, his swordsmanship is astonishing. He used to train me before he was killed by the head of the Kaguya clan." She stopped for a moment, recalling the scenes she had witnessed before the day she graduated from the academy.
"My mom is one of the strongest Kiri kunoichi back then. But for some reasons, she never came back from a mission." She looked at Neji who had know scooted closer by her side.
"You know (Y/n),it may or may not be a destiny we met." He said before leaning back by her side,he put his hand down the ground by their side.A fair half feet was between them to show Neji's respect in her personal space.
