I Get What I Want

Our first morning as a married couple was surprisingly smooth. Tila wala kaming pinagdaanang delubyo kagabi. I blushed as I remembered how amazing our first night was.

I woke up later than usual. Paggising ko ay abala si Gok sa harap ng laptop.

"Good morning!" He went to me when he saw me moved.

"Morning. I'm sorry I woke up late. Sana ginising mo ako."

"I didn't want to disturb you. Besides, you need to get enough rest." Umupo ito sa tabi ko at hinayaan akong nakahilig sa dibdib niya. I wrapped my arms around his waist.

"I should get used to mornings like this. Holding you like this feels so surreal. Are we really married now?" I looked up at him.

He raised my hand and the sight of the two rings on my left hand appeared before me. He gently caressed my hands and intertwined our fingers.

"Yes, you are now married to me." He paused. " You used to snob me before."

Umirap ako. Naalala ang dahilan ng pag-alis ko ng Pilipinas dati.

"Because you were so KSP. You wanted the spotlight so much." I rolled my eyes before he looked at me.

"KSP?" Kunot-noong tanong nito.

"Yeah! As in Kulang Sa Pansin! I was a consistent top student before ka dumating sa Hillside. You took everything away from me." Di ko na mabilang kung pang-ilang irap ko na ito.

He sighed then pulled me closer.

"I was wrong. Akala ko mapapansin mo ako kung gagalingan ko. Hindi mo kasi ako pinapansin noon. Lagi nalang si Christine ang kasama mo. Before I could even get to you, I think I already lost you."

"Duh. Masyado mo naman kasing ginalingan." I crossed my arms and faced him. "Yung classmates natin, masayang-masaya na nasapawan mo ako. I was humiliated you know." I moved a bit farther from him.

He pulled me closer again.

"That's why I was wrong. I am sorry, Lea. For all the things na nawala sayo noon."

"Well... Kung hindi rin naman nangyari yun, baka wala rin ako dito. Hindi ko rin maaabot ang lahat ng ito sa LA." I faced him again. "So, thanks to you, husband. You just made the Lea that I am now today." I smirked.

He groaned.

"Although masaya ako sa mga naabot mo, but, ten years of waiting was not easy. There were times gustong-gusto na kitang sundan dito pero natakot akong baka mas lalo kang magalit sa akin. I waited patiently dahil alam kong balang araw, babalik ka rin sa atin. I was very happy when you came back but when I saw you with another man, I was mad. I heard your reputation with men but hindi ko kayang makita ng harap-harapan. Kaya inaway kita kahit hindi naman yun ang inensayo kong salubong sayo. Your flirting with men would be the death of me."

I was lost for words sa narinig.

"So, you waited for me, huh? Ganun katagal mo akong hinintay? Eh, ano yung nabalitaan kong tungkol sa inyo ni Nikki?"

His brows furrowed.

"I told you. I did not have any girls. Nikki is just a friend. Siya ang may-ari ng resort." Seryosong sagot nito.

"Hmp. I don't believe you." Irap ko.

"Come here. Don't waste your time sa mga pagdududa na yan."

"So sampung taon ka ring celibate, ganun?"

He sighed.

"Are we really going to talk about my sex life?"

Mukhang galit na nga ito.
