~"I heard a glass shatter on the wall in the apartment above mine
At first I thought that I was dreamin"~

The sound of a crash from above Jaemin's bedroom made him jump in fear of what had happened. He sleepily opened his eyes while wiping the drool away with the back of his hand.

Sitting up, Jaemin threw the soft white duvet off his body while swinging his legs off the edge of the mattress and sliding them into slippers that sat beside the adult's bed.

His hair was messy and his vision was a bit blurred since he was still not fully awake due to the early hour of four a.m. It hadn't really fazed him since it was just the thud of something hitting the ground that had woken the sleepy blonde.

Jaemin looked at the ceiling, hearing a smash of glass against the floor. What was going on upstairs? It was a question he had asked both himself and the couple up above.

Nights like this were often, every few days maybe, and sometimes it would be every night. This had left the college student too tired for school the next morning.

He had confronted his classmate, Jinsoo, about the noises he had heard since him and his boyfriend were the ones' causing the annoyance.

Jinsoo had apologised, bowed and left, though it had never stopped in the three months since he had started college and moved into the apartment block.

Jaemin shuffled to the kitchen, knowing that he would be unable to sleep in fear of what was happening between the couple above him.

Jeno, Jinsoo's boyfriend, and the blonde's classmate, had missed a lot of school, even though it was only the beginning of a four year course.

It had annoyed Jaemin how Jeno was so careless. He had gotten into such a good college, yet he was letting the opportunity of a lifetime pass him by.

Jaemin knew it wasn't any of his business, but being woken up at ungodly hours of the night had made him take it upon himself to figure out why the pair were so aggressive.

Jaemin placed a shot of coffee into the machine and let the device do the rest as he trailed back to his room, grabbing his phone in boredom.

He sat on the bed, flicking through social media. There were images of a party that had taken place that night, but Jaemin had been too tired to even bother going.

He continued flicking, noticing a picture of Jinsoo, but there was no Jeno. This confused the twenty year old who found himself glancing at the ceiling in concern.

The yelling had stopped and knew that he should of been relieved, but he was still worried. Had one of them gotten hurt? Had they finally smoothed things over? He couldn't find it in him to move, fear of the couple above getting to him.

It was none of his business, right?

He dropped his phone onto his bed, ruffling his dyed blonde hair frustratedly.

What had he gotten himself into? He had only wanted to get away from his overbearing parents, but instead he had become a sleep deprived zombie.

Releasing a sigh, he stood. The coffee was probably done, and he wanted to just drink the beverage and watch television before school. This was usually how he spent his sleepless nights.

He had gotten to the kitchen before pouring the hot beverage and taking a seat on the couch in hopes of a quiet and relaxing moment.

Though fate wasn't on the adult's side. The screaming had started up again. Jaemin started throwing his head against the table, hoping that it would knock him out and lead him to peace and quiet at last.

'SoRRy JAemiN,' the blonde mocked as he thought of Jinsoo's words the other day.

"Whole lot of use that was," he mumbled out in annoyance.

He had rested his head on the table after taking a sip of the coffee and wrapping his hands around the source of heat.

His head ached so bad because he hadn't slept through a full night in weeks, the couple upstairs being the reasoning.

Jaemin could faintly hear the words that left Jinsoo's mouth from upstairs.

It was a mix of words, but he couldn't piece together what the argument was even about.
Jeno and Jinsoo had always looked so happy together at school, but it seemed rather forced in a way.

Jaemin had been watching the pair closely, wanting to figure out why the pair had been non-stop fighting since he had moved to the apartment. He had repeated the same thing in his head many times before,

'It's none of my business, right?'

But it sort of had become his business as long as they kept him awake. He just couldn't figure out what to do with the fighting couple and himself.

Jaemin had been so deep in thought, unaware the constant ticking of the clock, that sat so gracefully upon the mantle piece, that he hardly noticed the time go by.

It had already been two hours, meaning it was a little before six a.m.

Jaemin looked at the coffee, it had gone cold so long ago, but he didn't mind. He stood from the stool, heading to the sink to tip the half empty mug into the aluminium basin.

The sound of swashing as the liquid slipped through the drain so carefully had put Jaemin into a trance. It elicited a yawn from the young adult, making him shake his head cutely as an attempt to shake the tiredness away.

He had only then noticed when the tap stopped running, that the yelling had ceased again. This time, there was no worry, just relief in the blonde's system.

He released a sigh, glad that the headache was subsiding slowly. His shoulder slumped when he realised that he needed to start getting ready for the school day ahead already.

He knew what he had to do. Jinsoo and Jeno needed to stop making their relationship issues everyone else's problem. He had to talk to Jeno. The younger of the two had always been more approachable.

He had always intrigued Jaemin. His oversized sweaters and his outgoing personality that always seemed to die down when his boyfriend arrived. It was all so much to take in.

Was there something that they were hiding? Or was Jaemin just overthinking the whole situation?
