"Yo what's happening."

Mike greeted the twins as they hopped out of their truck. Bella awkwardly smiled back and walked with her sister.

"So the two of you and the Cullens, huh? That's uh, I don't like it. You know, they just look at you both as if you're something to eat." Mike walked alongside Bella.

"Well Mike." Bella turned towards her sister. "I do remember that Bella and I are with Jasper and Edward. And since your name is neither Jasper or Edward, you have no say in what we do or who we talk to. Thanks for your input though." Elena grabbed her sisters arm and led her away from a speechless Mike.

"Sorry were late." Elena apologized to her dad as sat down next to him.

"Biology project." Bella explained.

"I ordered you the spinach salad Bella. Elena you got your favorite burger as usual." Charlie sighed. Cora quickly appeared with the three plates of food and set them down in front of their corresponding person.

"Should order one for the both of you next time." Bella laughed. "Cut back on the steak."

"Hey. I'm as healthy as a horse." Charlie put his newspaper on the table.

"Yup. Got the weight to prove it dad." Elena dipped her fry in ketchup and shoved it in her mouth.

"I'll ground you. And you will never see that boy again." He threatened. Elena put her hand up in defense giggling.

"Hey chief." Cora gained the attention of the Swan family. "Boys wanna know. Did you find anything down by Queens river today?" Elena's mood went down. She knew that some kind of animal killed her dad's friend Waylon. She had spent an entire night comforting him and trying to make sure he was okay.

"Yeah we found a bare human footprint." He sighed. Bella and Elena immediately made eye contact. A bare human footprint? While there were chasing some animal? There's no coincidences in Forks.

"But it looks like whoever's it is is headed East. So Kitsap county's sheriff is going to take over from here."

"Okay." Cora whispered.

"Okay?"

"I just hope they catch him fast." She spoke looking down.

"They will." Elena put her hand on Cora's arm. The woman looked at the girl and gave her a small smile before walking away to work.

"What the hell is that." Elena looked behind her sister to see Mike dancing.

"Looks like your friends are flagging you." Charlie looked away awkwardly. Bella sighed when she saw Mike waving his butt in front of her family. "It's okay if you wanna go join them. I think I'm gonna turn in early."

"Me too." Bella spoke up.

"Bella. It's a Friday night. Go out. It looked like the Newton boy's got an eye for you." Charlie took a sip of his coffee. Elena choked on her water getting her family attention.

"I'm good." She laughed.

"Yeah, he's a good buddy." Bella kept eating not wanting to keep talking about Mike Newton.

"What about any of these other yahoo's in town? Anybody interesting? I know your sister here has already got someone wrapped around her finger." Charlie motioned to Elena who blushed but didn't talk.

"Dad were gonna talk about boys?"

"Yeah I guess not. Just uh, I feel like I leave you both alone too much.."
