part five - revealed

*Daniel's POV*

I couldn't believe my eyes, was what I was seeing real? Were my eyes playing tricks on me, were they trying to freak me out, were they telling the truth? No. That's silly they can't be. Mermaids aren't real. The girl I'm seeing right now does not have a tail.

*flashback to Cancun*

*Anai's POV*

After I left Daniel that night at the pool, I walked down to the beach and decided to get in the water. The ocean had always calmed me, the waves crashing against my feet as I walked in. Slowly I finally reached waist level and floated on my back,  and then that's when everything changed.

I was dragged down to the bottom where I saw a glowing light. This invisible force was pulling me faster once it 'saw' the light. There were what looked like water angels circling the orb of light then I realized they were mermaids? Made of water? Okay, this is creepy. Their translucent, and wait... HOW AM I BREATHING UNDER WATER?! How did I just realize that. I'm stupid, but like seriously what is going on. Suddenly I wasn't being dragged towards the light, now I was right in front of it, it look so alluring, I kind of want to ...

I touched the light which just so happened to be a gem type thing, and before I knew it these scenes were happening in my head and a voice.

Anai, you are among one of the few  mermaids still here. Your grandmother was the queen of the mermaids herself, Queen Merliah, she reigned over the vast oceans of the world until she was slain by a darkness that comes from the depths, where even our powers do no hold control over.

These vibrant scenes were painted in my head, each filled with so much rich color, and vibrant, detailed drawings. Abuela? I questioned, I never got to meet her all I know is that my mother rejected her and hated what she was.

The voice continued ~ Queen Merliah was rejected by your family after your grandfather found out who she was, your mother grew up with hate towards all things to do with the people of the sea, so much so that the darkness fed off this anger and filled her with the need to get rid of them forever, after the darkness spoke to her all his evil plans, she pursued them, gaining an army large enough for an unbeatable ambush therefore wiping out the entire population. Queen Merliah was slained  by her own daughters hand.

Oh my god, did my mother really kill my Abuela? Just because she wan't .. human?

The one thing that your mother didn't realize, when she killed your grandmother, was that the mermaid morelia ( moor - rie - leah ) or as you would call it, the mermaid gene, skips every other generation, thus leaving you Anai. The next ruler of the new generations, the who has come to save us all. 

The voice faded and as it had done so, I felt my feet contracting together and suddenly they moved as one. I looked down to reveal a beautiful tail, green, blue, and gold. suddenly a gem started floating to me. As it had done so, one of the water angels swam towards me, she tried to speak but couldn't for some reason. She started to spell out in bubbles: This is your heart stone, this will help you control your shifting from mermaid to human when you touch water, when you wear this it doesn't matter if you touch water or not, She spelt the next part in all uppercase, YOU WILL NOT SHIFT, TAKE THIS OFF AND TOUCH WATER YOU WILL TURN IN 10 SECONDS. 

With that warning I held onto the necklace tightly, and another water angel swam towards me this time she looked regal, as of some higher status. In bubbles she wrote: Since you are of royal blood, you can control, heat, or freeze water by just thinking. Lastly, you can speak and control the animals of the sea, but be careful to them, be gentle and they will to you. Treat them right and they will die for you.

I nodded, she swam away. Something then began pushing me upward, and soon I was at the shore. I was still in mermaid for and wondering how I was supposed to morph back, but then I remembered my heart's stone, I put the necklace on and immediately turned back.

Anai - "Wow, that just happened"

Then I heard the voice again ~ Anai there are people out there that want you dead, now that we have shown you who you are, the darkness has sensed you and will not stop until you are dead. Be careful with using your powers, make sure no one is around, and DO NOT tell ANYONE about your new identity unless you wish for them to die.

Anai - "Daniel.."

I ran back to the house, and found him sleeping in my bed cuddled up with one of my pillows. Thank God your safe, I thought.

*current times*

*Daniel's POV*

I was still swimming after her, until we stopped not far off the shore, I was clutching her necklace in my hand as I watched the scene unfolding below me. This dark cloud was beginning to circle Anai, whom I'm guessing now is an actual mermaid, but how? Anyways it looked as if it was talking to her and she was trying to get it out of her head. Had this lured her out here? I kept watching, finally she forced this dark orb out of her head, she began screaming at it saying something, but i couldn't tell since it was muffled by the water. Finally the darkness tried to wrap around and that's when I decided to intervene. I swam to her and started pulling her up, surprisingly it worked, until she blacked out and wasn't helping me anymore. Now I was freaking out.

*time skip*

It took everything out of me but she was finally on shore, well partially because she was still part fish, I didn't know how to reverse her until I remembered the necklace she had thrown off before she ran into the water.

Daniel - "What if..." I said as I took the necklace out of my hand and placed it on her neck.

*Anai's POV*

Suddenly I felt my feet free from the hold they were in and looked up and saw a worried Daniel, oh no ,I thought, did he see me, did he see what I've been trying to hide?

Hey guys, this chapter was kind of a run on but it's okay, I'm trying to get through my ideas better, also today's chapter was 1,098 words long!! I'm sorry if this chapter got kind of weird? or confusing, but I believe that everything will work out in the next chapter.

let me know here if you have any suggestions, and later on into the story I think I might do something special for one of my reader's if this book gets better (my writing ofc) anyways love ya!
