Janto oneshots

The suit makes the man

Ianto sighed and threw his wrecked tie on the floor. They had had a particularly viscous encounter with a rogue weevil and most of Ianto's suit was unwearable. "Well" he muttered to himself as he threw his blazer and waistcoat into the the pile too "if heroism doesn't work out.... stripping will". It wasn't until he heard a chuckle from behind him that he realised he was no longer alone. "Now that I'd like to see" jack answered as he made his way towards ianto, placing his hands on the welshman's hips and snaking them around his waist from behind. "But first" the captain said, looking down at Ianto's torn suit trousers "want to borrow a pair of jeans or something". Ianto agreed reluctantly and was soon dressed in jacks jeans and his shirt. He glanced at himself in the mirror before sighing and unbuttoning his shirt, revealing a necklace which jack glanced at questioningly "is that?" He began before he was cut off by an embarrassed ianto "yep". it wasn't a shop bought necklace it was a sharks tooth he had found on the beach with mica and David the year before, they had gifted it to him after Johnny had helped them to bore a hole in it and string it onto a leather string. Ianto wore it everyday it helped him to remember that whatever happened he'd always have what was left of his family even if they did drive him nuts sometimes. Ianto rolled his sleeves up and instantly felt a little better about his appearance, before he had looked a mismatch of formal and casual but now he just looked somewhat casual even if he didn't usually choose this look for work.

Ianto made coffee for everyone, adding a splash of caramel for a treat after all it had been a rather trying morning. He got no more than a grunt from Owen as the medic worked on some paper work. He took two coffees down to the main hub only to find that Gwen was the only member working there he placed her coffee down carefully "Gwen? Where's tosh?" Gwen began to turn and look at him "oh she's just searching for an artefact in the archives she was going to ask you but she didn't know where you......... were......" her voice trailed off at the end as she set eyes on Ianto. The Welshman nodded muttering his thanks and walking away in search of tosh.

Ianto found tosh easily enough, she was sat at his desk in the archives as she studied her artefact. Ianto instantly realised that the archives weren't so stifling without his suit in fact, he realised, the whole hub seemed breezier. This put ianto in a mildly better mood though he had to admit his suit kept him professional. He placed tosh's coffee down on his desk and leant over the artefact "whatcha doing" he asked offhandedly, cringing slightly when he remembered he was talking to a colleague not jack or a school friend. Tosh glanced up in surprise "I- i was just studying the wires of this it seems to be made of a metal with no close resemblance to anything of earth" she babbled attempting to seem unfazed by Ianto's attitude and appearance. She worked in silence for a second as ianto reached for a file on the artefact when a phone rang startling them both. Ianto reached into the pocket of jacks jeans sighing when he read his sisters name on the screen "ugh nid hi eto, onid oes ganddi ymdeimlad o amseru cywir?" ((Quick A/N Roughly means "ugh not her again, does she not have a sense of correct timing")) He sighed reverting to welsh like he often did when he was frustrated. Ianto looked at tosh apologetically "I would help with that paper work to go with it ... but I gotta go" he frowned at his own informality as he answered the phone, he really needed to get back in his suit.

Later in the day tosh was back at her computer,  Gwen turned to her "is it just me? Or is ianto acting odd". Tosh thought for a second "I mean .... maybe he wasn't being as ianto like as normal and he's dressed very casually". "He was wearing his suit earlier though.   Wasn't he?" Gwen half asked half added a look of realisation dawned on tosh's face "what if something happened ? What if he had a run in with a piece of tech?". At that moment Owen blundered in "anyone know why the hell tea boy put caramel in the coffee.... it's not anyone's birthday is it?" He questioned wondering if he'd missed something. Gwen gasped "that's another thing" she exclaimed. Owen frowned "oh" tosh began to explain "we think there might be something wrong with ianto". Just as she said his name the Welshman in questioned walked into the main hub "anyone seen my keys?" He asked, Owen tossed them to him as tosh questioned ianto "you're going home early?? You never go home early". Ianto shook his head "I'm coming back, I need to get back into a suit it's really throwing me off, being dressed casual. Someone around here needs to be professional" he explained smirking at his last statement "also my sister exploded her microwave.... god know how so I'm lending her mine until she gets a new one" he added before leaving the hub. Tosh and Gwen flushed in embarrassment as Owen shook his head "so theres nothing wrong with him.... you're both just idiots?" He stated with a laugh before returning to his work.
