Are you sure?: part two

The next day continued as normal for ianto and jack. Perhaps there was a little more smiling and secret kisses between the two of them but no announcement as, although they knew the team had their suspicions, they hadn't yet told the team that they were together. Ianto wore his ring, he couldn't bear not to it really was beautiful and anyway it wasn't as if anyone would be staring at his hands. He had asked jack if he wanted an engagement ring too but the captain had refused to let Ianto get him one. Yet here ianto was sneaking off in the middle of the day to a jewellers. Jack had said no to a ring, not to anything else. The bell of the small jewellers rang as ianto entered the shop. A small bumbling grey haired man appeared "ah Can I help you?" He asked. "Um yes hi" ianto said a little awkwardly "I'm looking for a necklace just a simple one" he smiled as he was shown over to a cabinet. He looked over the necklaces and, knowing jack wouldn't want anything too elaborate, settled on one with a small chain and a silver rectangle plaque with a two diamonds opposite corners and two sapphires in opposite corners. Jack had given him rubies because of his red shirt and ties he would give jack sapphires for his signature blue RAF uniform. The man asked him if he would like it engraved and ianto nodded showing the man the engraving on his ring and asking if he could do the same design. The man smiled and nodded informing ianto to come back in half an hour when it would be done.

Ianto wandered around town for a while before deciding on buying the team donuts and a few bits for the hub kitchen. He also bought a few more memory sticks and disks for the computers to give himself a reason for why he was out so long. He returned to the small shop and paid for the necklace, breathing a small sigh of relief when he saw that it was absolutely perfect. He thanked the man and rushed back to the hub.

He the donuts for tosh Gwen and Owen on the table calling out to them to let them know that they would have to come and get them as he put away the other shopping he had bought. He then took the necklace and jacks donut up to the captain. Ianto would eat his donut later. "Got you a donut jack" he said giving the immortal a kiss as he leant over the desk to hand the bag to jack. Jack smiled at him. "Also, I know you said no ring but I wanted to get you something soo...." he opened the small box and showed jack the necklace. Jacks eyes widened and he smiled widely "it's perfect he said softly as ianto removed three necklace from its box and fastened it around jacks neck tucking it into his blue shirt out of sight and close to the captains heart.

The rest of the day went as most days did at torchwood. Ianto handed out coffee to the team like normal. However as he set down Gwen and  tosh's coffees, Gwen suddenly grabbed his left hand before he had a chance to withdraw it from her mug. "Ianto.... what's that?" She said gesturing to his ring, excitement lacing her every word. Ianto shrugged "it's just a ring" he said somehow maintaining his cool. "Bollocks!" Gwen scoffed "that's an engagement ring that". Tosh looked up from her computer, "Who's engaged?" She asks. Gwen tilts Ianto's hand "bloody hell..." she mutters and she reads the engraving "jack and ianto!". Ianto flushed as they heard a loud crash from the autopsy room before owen came rushing out. "THEY'RE WHAT?" He exclaimed "so you were right tosh? it's an actual relationship? Not just a shag?" He paused for a second as he studied Ianto's face before carrying on "not that I doubted tosh obviously I just didn't think jack would..... you see what I mean is ..... congratulations" he back tracked muttering the last word in surly defeat. Ianto finally withdrew his hand from gwen's vice like grip as he smiled shyly at his colleagues. He was embarrassed, yes.... but happy.
