It's slowly getting dark outside as the big guild hall reaches our vision. Chase insisted on walking, and I allowed him as long as he'd hold my hand. He's a quite energetic kid, and that makes him adorable, but that also makes me lose him fast in a crowd.

I watch as he looks around with big eyes, not being used to the big city. I almost never take him here, because I'm afraid he'll get lost, and when he plays outside, I always tell him to stay close to home. Perhaps I'm worrying too much, but he's only ten years old and the last family I have, I feel like I must look after him the best I can.

"How did you end up there?" Freed asks, looking at us. "You didn't seem like you enjoyed doing your job."

"Our parents passed away and I needed money. The manager said he could offer me a job at a club, and I thought it would just be a club where people dance and have fun so I agreed. When I arrived, I found out what sort of club it was," I answer.

"Why didn't you leave?" Bickslow asks, in his loud, almost screaming, voice. His totems, as an echo, repeat 'leave' multiple times in sync.

"He threatened to take away our apartment, and he threatened to hurt him..." I shoot a quick look at Chase. To my relief he's just looking around, talking to his teddybear about all te exiting things he sees. He doesn't have a lot of friends, and I believe the most ten year olds don't talk to their teddybears, but it seems to be a safe place to him, so I let him.

The two males nod and we continue walking in silence, the guild hall slowly starting to tower above us. Our pace is quite slow, having to adapt to the short legs of Chase, but that's okay. My entire body is sore from what happened earlier in the club, and my thoughts are still racing everywhere. I'm afraid something will happen in the guild, not sure if I should trust Freed and Bickslow.

I let the two males take the lead as we walk into the guildhall, following right behind them. It's a huge chaos of people screaming, casting magic and throwing things at each other. Before I know it, also a chair flies our way, stopped by a huge hand.

"I see we have a visitor, could everyone please just settle down for a bit and let them enter!" a loud, deep voice commands. I look up and see how the huge hand is connected to a way too small body.

It's an older man, the oldest I can spot in the guild hall from what I've seen this fast. He's quite small, though I expect his magic is gigantification as I look at his huge hand, which is now putting down the chair. He has a few tuffs of hair on his head and seems to be wearing something close to a joker's outfit. He does look very welcoming and open, but a bit weird.

He jumps off from the counter and walks towards us. I instinctively tighten my grasp on Chase's hand, being careful of anyone getting closer, it's not hard to notice that as good as everyone here must have stronger magic than me. It was the first thing I noticed when I walked in.

"Freed, Bickslow, who did you bring?" the older man asks, looking at the two males in front of me.

I take another look around the guildhall, now everyone has calmed down. I notice the blonde-haired mage, Laxus, sitting on a higher part in the guild hall. He seems to be alone up there, I wonder why. I also figure that as soon as I can, I will try and thank him for helping me back there. I haven't quite done so.

"This is Mary Change," Freed answers. He looks at me for confirmation and I nod. "We met her a few minutes ago at a..." he seems to doubt about his choice of words, "club."

The master focusses his attention on me. "Well, Mary, my name is Makarov and I'm the master of this guild. Why did you come here?"

"W-well..." I start off. "I ran into Freed, Bickslow and Laxus," now everyone's attention shoots to Laxus, who scoffs and turns his back to the entire scene, "long story short... I lost my job and Freed s-said he thought it was indirectly his fault and should do something..." I don't feel comfortable speaking in front of so many people.

"And who did you bring?" Makarov asks, pointing at Chase. Though his eyes soften as he notices how enthusiastic the little kid is to even be here.

I squad down to Chase and tap his shoulder to get his attention. "Why don't you introduce yourself to the guild master?" I ask him, pointing at Makarov.

Chase happily walks forward, I let go of his hand as he walks out of my reach, but continue to watch him closely. "My name is Chase Bolt! Mary is my older, amazing sister. She got a stupid job to help us and then there was a huge chaos downstairs and we walked here with them," he, quite chaotically, explains, pointing at Freed and Bickslow.

"And what was this stupid job?" Makarov asks.

"She worked in a stripclub," Chase answers with a straight face. I never tried hiding it from him, but again, I'm not proud of it.

Makarov looks up at me with a lifted eyebrow, though in his gaze I can find rather worry for Chase than anger towards me. "I-I had to..." I answer, taking a step back. "I-I..." I fall silent as the entire guild looks at me with judging eyes.

"Allow me to explain," Freed saves me. "She explained the situation to us on our way to the guild." And so Freed repeats my words, explaining why I was working in such a place. He also explains about my magic and why he thinks I'd be fit for this guild. It's mostly just that I need help and that I lost my job thanks to Laxus getting annoyed, so they should take responsibility.

"Laxus, did you electrocute the manager?!" Makarov screams, looking at the back of the blonde-haired mage.

"He was loud and annoying," he answers in a bored tone.

"Well then, since I agree with Freed, I think you should show her how to get to her new temporary home," Makarov says, looking at Laxus with a strict gaze.

"Oi gramps, what do you mean by that?" Laxus asks, looking back with a rather downwarding gaze. It's getting more clear to me with the second that he's looking down on everyone.

"You made her lose her job, so she's going to stay with us," Makarov says.

Laxus groans. "Fine, I'll head back around ten."

I look at a clock, it's currently nine.

Makarov looks back at me, apparently feeling the need to explain what just happened. "Laxus is my grandson, so we live together. If you're willing to become a member of Fairy Tail, I can make sure you have a temporary place to stay. You can train and do some quests, so you can eventually pay for your own place."

"Sleepover!" Chase shouts, laughing.

I look at him and back at Makarov. "Thank you so much. Of course I'll take the offer, and it's an honour to become a member of Fairy Tail," I answer.

"Alright then, come with me for your guild mark!"
