It takes about two hours before Laxus returns. I somehow managed to get Chase to calm down in the meantime. He didn't know what was going on, and I told him these were preparations for the parade, that they didn't want us to see it. I felt really bad for lying, but I'd feel worse if Chase now panicked.

"Laxus!" I say, walking over to him. "You should stop this, now."

He looks down at me, having a rather angry expression on his face. I notice how Chase has gone silent, when he was running around and looking at everything in the cathedral just a second ago.

"And why should I do so? Didn't you say you'd be supportive of me strengthening the guild?"

"You're not strengthening it!" I yell at him. "You're just hurting everyone and getting yourself expelled." I walk over to him and take his hand, staring down at the ground while trying to fight back tears. "Please don't get expelled..."

"I won't get expelled if I become the new master," he says, patting my head. "Don't worry about that."

He walks off again, wanting to sit down. I can't let him continue like this, I'm sure master would never hand the guild down to Laxus after this.

"You know you won't become master like this, right?" Laxus looks at me, I notice how rage takes over. "Master won't give up his guild, and even if he does the rest won't accept it. You'll have a guild without members, how can that ever become the strongest guild?!"

He scoffs and sits down. "Shut up."

"No, I won't!" I say as I walk over at him. I stare down, looking into his black eyes.

"I don't care about getting expelled when I fail," he suddenly says. "I don't want to stay in this weak-ass guild either way."

My eyes open wide in surprise, as anger now starts to form inside of me too. I raise my hand, make a fist, and punch him right on the jaw. I don't have enough force to actually do harm, though it did shake him up. "You're so damned selfish!"

He looks up to me with widened eyes, before getting up again. "How am I selfish when I say I'm willing to give up my place in the guild if I fail? I'll even ask master to keep the Thunder God Tribe there."

"You're selfish because you never considered out feelings! Do you think I care if you fail or not?! I just don't want you getting expelled and I'm sure Freed, Evergreen and Bickslow think so too." Tears stream down my face, as I continue yelling at him. "And what do you think about the master? You might hate being related to him, but to him you're still his grandson and family. He cares a lot for you."

Laxus remains silent, it seems as though he's reconsidering. He's staring at the floor next to me, a frown on his face. If I'm right, I can talk this out of his roasted brain before serious damage is done and maybe he's allowed to stay.

"So please..." I mumble, walking over and hugging him. "Stop this and stay... There are plenty of other ways to make the guild stronger."

I can feel how he hesitates, his breathing stopping for just a brief moment. After that he wraps his arms around me. "Jeez, if it that's big of a deal, I'll ask them to stop."

I smile and let go of him, as Laxus walks out. I can hear how he screams at Freed, Bickslow and Evergreen to return and walk over to Chase. "Are you okay?"

"What was that about?" Chase asks, looking up at me. It's clear that this has made quite the impression on him.

"Laxus made a mistake, though realised it. I'm sure he'll make up for it with the master," I answer, as I crack a smile. "So no worries, okay?"

Chase nods, and seems relieved. I bet he must've been worried about Laxus and the guild as well. I wished he was somewhere else when I told Laxus off.

"Mary." I turn around to face Freed. I notice that Laxus is still talking to Evergreen and Bickslow at the door, which gets me curious as to why he'd come to me personally. "I wanted to thank you. I tried telling Laxus before that it was too big, although he didn't listen to me. No matter what the master says now, I want to thank you for avoiding even more suffering."

I smile, a bit dumbfounded by the sudden words of thanks. I knew Freed wasn't a bad guy, and that he also cares deeply for his comrades, yet I didn't expect this. Him and the Thunder God Tribe follow Laxus, though I guess this does prove that they have an opinion of their own. I'm glad.

"It's no problem... In the end I don't want Laxus getting expelled as well," I say.

Freed nods, though still seems a bit troubled. "Just the fact that he actually wanted to pull through with this could mean getting expelled... Lets just hope the best."

"Master wouldn't punish him that badly now he's stopped, right?" I say, my eyes widening. "I get that Laxus deserves some kind of punishment, but not expulsion, right?"

Freed sighs and looks away. "I don't know what the master will do. Do realise that even plotting this is already a huge act of violence against the guild. I believe all four of us should be ready to take on a heavy punishment. Still, I'm glad you stopped it before it got any worse."

I nod and glance over at Laxus, hoping from the bottom of my heart that the master will go easy on him.
