You Melt My Heart

Episode 5

*Tuesday, day of the interview*

"Hello everybody. I'm Keisha and today's interview will be tweaked a little bit. Being a florist, doesn't just mean to put beautiful flowers together to make a bouquet. You must understand the flowers and as the florist you must have inspiration and reason. So today, we have ten pictures and paintings for you to select. With your selection, you must create a bouquet that resembles your picture or painting. You have two hours to get this done. Within your two hours, the bouquet must be completed and you must have a reason as to why you arranged your bouquet as the way it is. This will be based on creativity, integrity, and personality. This project will be judged by our very own CEO of FloralShine. You have two hours and all the flowers and plants you will need is all here. Laptops are given to each one of you for you to type your reason. Remember to put your name after you have finished typing. You will not see our CEO but the two that does get chosen will see him, with personal comments. Now...go!"

I looked for a picture or painting that calls for me. Everyone is glancing at the pictures and leaving. I looked high and low and I think I found it. This painting has two sides. One side of the tree all covered with green leaves in the sun with a swing hanging from a branch. The other side is a naked tree with withered leaves on the winter floor and a an empty bench. I had to choose it.
I gathered my flowers, put the bouquet together and typed my reason.
My bouquet consists of simple bluebells, and taking off all the pedals of a sunflower and using the middle. Yellow butterfly bush and baby's breath with a few myrtle plants. As for my reason....

The reason I chose to arranged my bouquet this way is because when I look at this picture, both scenery of the tree is beautiful to look at. But if I look closely and really concentrate, I can feel loneliness. With the bluebells to represent winter and yellow butterfly bush to represent the summer, but in the middle is the head of a sunflower and with its look, it can show that although both flowers are beautiful in its individual way, this middle is what they have in common. This arrangement is also similar to me. I feel that this painting represents me and I arranged this bouquet because of how I feel when looking at the painting and my reflection.

After I finished typing, I took one more look at my bouquet and started to feel sad. It somehow represented me as well. I got up and went into the waiting room with the others.
I was so anxious in the waiting room, wondering if I got the job. I chatted with some of the other four chosen people. All of them seemed friendly, but one particular girl seemed very indifferent talking with us. Her name was Grace. She was pretty but she stayed on her phone the entire time we were in the wait room. Finally, about an hour of wait, Keisha came in and told us which three leaves and which two stays. They started off one by one. The nerve-racking intensity in the wait room made my palm sweat.

"Greyson, we really appreciate you coming here today but unfortunately, today you will not be receive this job. Your bouquet you presented to us was really great but our CEO thinks that you lack some creativity in your presentation. Keep in mind that these are also constructive criticisms as well. This goes for everyone."

*Greyson hugs everyone except Grace and leaves*

"Mason, thank you for coming today. Your presentation was really good and your reason was definitely genuine, but our CEO thinks that with your reason, he thinks you should go back work making sure your inspiration is actually inspiring you because your reason was a bit blunt."

*Mason hugs everyone except Grace*

"Our last person to leave today is..."

At this very moment, my anxiety was kicking. I am so afraid she will call out my name.

"Heather. Heather, again we appreciate you coming all the way here. Your resume was really good but the presentation you presented, our CEO thinks that you can work on making sure what you picked and what you arranged will match up with each other. Unfortunately, you are our last person to leave today."

*Heather hugs me and sniffles then leave*

"Now, that means Grace and Arissa are our two new florists. You two follow me and we will meet with our CEO."

*Keisha lead the way*

I was so happy I could burst into tears. My face gave it all away. Grace glances at me and gave me a slight "ugh" and rolled her eyes at me. I'm not sure what her problem was but I know for sure I don't want to be friends with her.
