Heyyyy.

Im back another update for y'all. This is a high school mortal AU, in which they're obviously not demigods. I've had this written for a while and I had some help from my old pal GhostMonstah but I couldn't think of a good title so I've been putting it off. The title I choose is kind of meh, but I figured it was time to update. Comment if you have a better idea for a title lmao.

Also, this one shot is long. Like, extremely long. Like, 35 pages long. So I've decided to split it into 2 parts, though this one is considerably longer than the second one.

This one shot is dedicated to Boss_of_the_World for commenting on last post's trivia question. Keep up the good work, you guys rock!

Let me know if you like these AUs and if you'd like to see like this one.

Enjoy :)

Annabeth was tired of being stood up.

The constant glances and sympathetic looks she got from people were starting to get on her nerves. And really, she should be used to them by now. This was the third time her boyfriend had stood her up.

She sighed and picked up her phone, texting Luke for the third time: Where are you?

She glanced at the time displayed on her screen and rolled her eyes. He was over an hour late.

She and her boyfriend of almost a year had talked just the night before, agreeing to meet up at the cafe they both liked, mainly because they hadn't seen each other much the past few weeks. Luke was a senior, a year older than Annabeth, and while she understood all the stress that came along with applying to college and being the best swimmer in their school's swim team, she was starting to get annoyed at Luke blowing her off.

She scanned the room, trying to take her mind off the possibility of her getting stood up again. The cafe was cozy, the white and pastel blue decor simple but charming. It was mostly empty and quiet, the only people there being her, a group of teenage guys seated at a large table over by the corner, and a couple students with laptops and textbooks spread in front of them.

She played with the straw of her now room temperature milkshake and considered just walking out and leaving, after paying for her drink of course. The thought of Luke showing up after she'd left and thinking he got stood up comforted Annabeth in a way.

The bells hanging on the entrance to the cafe jingled and Annabeth scowled when she realized it was just a woman with her son who had just walked in. She was too busy scowling out the window at all the people walking past that she almost didn't notice someone slid into the seat across from her.

Annabeth's eyes snapped to the boy in front of her., who definitely wasn't Luke.

The guy looked about her age: black hair, green eyes, and a boyish smile.

"Hi, I'm Percy." He said simply, his green eyes sparkling.

Annabeth scrunched her eyebrows, confused at why this random, handsome stranger had decided to plop down in front of her and strike up a conversation. "I'm waiting for my boyfriend."

He tilted his head to the side, giving her a small smile. "It seems like you've been waiting here a long time."

Normally, Annabeth would've gotten annoyed and told him off. If Luke walked in and saw her talking to a random guy... well, he wouldn't be thrilled.

All the boys at her school were too afraid of Luke to even talk to her. The last time someone had asked her out, a guy from her AP chemistry class, Luke had cornered him after he found out and casually threatened him. Annabeth was mortified, and the poor guy wouldn't even look her in the eye when she tried to apologize. Luke had gotten mad when she confronted him about it, and told her she shouldn't be talking to random guys.
