Heyyy.
So it's been a while since I've updated this so I think it's about time that I do.
Uh, this one is set after BoO, before ToA.
It's kind of short, but I've always wondered what this moment would be like so I decided to write it out.
Shout out goes to bookworm02024 for answer the last trivia question correctly!
I take requests so if there's anything you wanna see me write, comment it here and I'll see what I can do :) -->
Anyway...

Percy was afraid to knock.
He and Annabeth stood facing the familiar white door of his mom's apartment in the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
With the Giant War finally over and all their physical wounds healed, Percy and Annabeth had immediately decided to go into the city and see his mom. They would spent the night at his apartment and leave for camp the next morning. In doing so, Annabeth would be fulfilling the promise she had made Sally the last time she had seen her.
It had been the day before Annabeth left with Jason, Piper, and Leo to find the Roman camp. Annabeth had gone to Sally's apartment to say goodbye and told her about the quest she was about to go on to find Percy. Sally had burst into tears and Annabeth wrapped her arms around her.
"Annabeth," Sally started between tears, "You have to promise me you'll be careful, and that you'll come back alive. I can't lose you, too."
"Sally-" Annabeth started.
"Promise me you'll both come back to me." Sally insisted, tears flowing down her cheeks.
How could Annabeth promise her that? She didn't even know for sure if Percy would be at the Roman camp. Her mind went back to the line of the prophecy: an oath to keep with a final breath.
Would that be this promise? She wanted to say that she couldn't promise something like that, but the desperate look in the older woman's eyes stopped her.
"I promise." She said and hugged Sally one last time before she gathered her things and walked out the door.
Now, as Annabeth stood patiently with Percy, she couldn't wait to see Sally.
Percy bit his lip, glancing nervously at Annabeth, who nodded in encouragement. He raised his hand to knock but faltered at the last second and let his hand fall to his side.
Annabeth sighed, that was the third time he had done that. She stepped between him and the door, forcing him to look at her. " What's wrong?"
"I just-" he ran a hand through his hair, letting out a sigh, "Do you think she'll resent me?"
Annabeth frowned, "Resent you? Percy, how could she possibly-"
"I left her. After everything she's done for me, I just disappeared and she had no idea what had happened. She must've been out of her mind with worry and-"
Annabeth reached out her hand and cupped his cheek, "You can't blame yourself for that, it wasn't your fault. And Percy, she's your mother. She wants nothing more than to just see you and be with you and make sure you're okay. She loves you so much and there's no way she could ever resent you."
