14. soulmate

For the past week Draco has been taking care of Hermione. The whole experience thay had brought them closer somehow , even dough Draco thought she'd want nothing to do with him after the danger she went trough , they had a conversation about it the day after the attack and to his surprise Hermione didn't want to leave his side .

" Draco it's not your fault , I got myself in this , I chose to come back , even though you told me not to . And I'm happy with my choices because if I had listened to you , you wouldn't have been alive anymore . And I could never live with myself if that happened "

The days we're going by preatty easily , Hermione spend most of her day reading while Draco would go trough stacks of papers and documents. After the attack Draco and his mother decided it would be better to sell the manor, even though the guilty deatheater was found , there house was still known by all of Voldemort's allies as a meet up place . They felt like it wasn't a safe place ever since they switched sides . About 3 days later they have moved out and already sold the house . Narcissa and Teddy moved at Andromeda's since she finalized her old duties and finally completely switched to the good side . Even dough Narcissa wasn't very keen on the ideea Draco decided to move out and get a place of his own after he graduated from Hogwarts. For now he was at the getaway cottage with Hermione until she got well enough to go back to Hogwarts.
While days were easily going by , the nights were the hardest. Now , Hermione wasn't the only one waking up in the middle of the night gasping for air .
It was the 3rd night at the cottage , the first time Hermione could proprietary sleep . No pain and no nightmares about the blonde woman coming back . dough she still woke up at around 3am because she heard Draco shouting her name .
" Draco , what's wrong?!" She asked in concern and the boy woke up with a sweat and a rapid breathing .
" Your here... " he mumbled.
" ... yes , I am .... what's wrong, Draco ?" She asked seeing he sunk back in his armchair ( he decided to sleep there , he didn't want to invade Hermiones privacy) He sighed and wiped the sweat on his forehead with his shirt .
" ...just a nightmare..."he said as his breathing finally calmed down .
" about ?"
" ... her hurting you ... and me not being able to save you ..." he gave a small sniff
" come here..." she patted the empty spot next to her . Draco listened and got up from his seet and sat down on the bed , next to her ." ... don't just sit there, get under the covers" he listened one again .
Hermione lyed back down . Somehow trough the pitch black room a ray of moonlight had managed to hit his face . She could see more than clear the familiar grey pair of eyes , they looked empty and drained of energy, that until he made contact with hers and somehow they had managed to turn warm but still be icy grey .
" I'm not going anywhere..." she placed her hand on his cheek .
" promise?" He placed a hand over hers and slowly rubbed his thumb .
" I promise..." she whispered.
Draco gently kissed her hand before linking his fingers with hers . Even dough it was dark he could still see Hermione's cheeks turned a shade of pink , it unconsciously made him smile.
Hermione squeezed his hand and pulled it towards her , signaling him to come closer , so he did .
But close isn't close enough for them , Draco placed his head on her chest and wrapped his hand around her waist .
Hermione wrapped her hands around his neck , holding him in a embrace. That's how she discovered how much she liked playing with his hair and the  way her hand  perfectly fit around the base of his head . But most of all she loved the way  Draco breathed deaply and sometimes let out a little grown when her fingers went trough his fluffy hair .

Draco and Hermione aparated at the entrance of Hogwarts.
Hermione sighed deaply .
" what ?" He asked as he placed a hand on her waist , helping her walk . She still had a small limp .
" nothing... feels good  to back ..." she gave a small smile .
As they walked inside the castle everyone stopped to look at them . Whispers filled the halls of the school .
The hallways that were once empty and echoey were now filled with students muttering and asking if the rumors were true .
MsMgonigal was walking quite fast trough the crowds of students.
" move along now !" She shooed them away as she got to the two . " Granger! Malfoy! I'm glad to see your back and healthy!"
" thank you professor "
" How are you feeling, MissGranger ?"
" much better "
" well , if anything go straight to Madame Pomfrey" Hermione nodded " what about you , Malfoy? How are you feeling?"
" very well , I was lucky Hermione was there , she healed me back to full health on the spot" he tightened his grip on her waist as he said that " there just scars now "
" glad to hear that " she nodded " well , before I leave you two to go back to your dorm I just want to tell you that the students may seem a bit agitated , the news of what happened traveld preatty quickly and a lot of students were scared the deatheaters would come here looking for you . Luckily the aurrors cough them . But still there are a lot of rumors running around about what happened and what will happen, I suggest you to not pay any attention to them " the two nodded in agreement " well than , have a nice weekend " she smiled before leaving the two .
As the two walked town the hall they saw Ginny and Blaize walking towards them . The red head let go of his hand and ran to jump in Hermione's arms  . Right before she could get a hold of her Draco blocked her with his hand .
" be careful she's still healing "
" yeah yeah !" Ginny pushed his arm and took Hermione in a tight embrace.
" he's right Gin ..." Hermione let go of her
"I'm sorry... I just missed you so much " she said in a apologetic look
" I know , I missed you too " she hugged the girl again , only this time more carefully
" glad to see your alive!" Said Blaize as he approached them .

Hermione was sitting on the couch doing some light reading when Draco leaned over the couch. She looked up at him .
" gonna go practice , I'll see you later "
" okey , be careful " she looked back down at her book
" you too "he leaned down and gave her a kiss on top of her head before leaving the dorm .
" what's that about ?" Asked Pantsy with her eyes wide
" are you guys back together?!are you ?!" Ginny got all excited
" no , we're not , Gin " she looked back down at her book " we're just close ..." she mumbled
" what do you mean close" Pantsy asked suspiciously " how close?"
" kissing close " Ginny eyed her
" ... I don't know " she looked at them and closed her book " were just close ... this whole experience brought us closer but not kissing closer " she looked at Ginny " dough we did kiss once "
" what ?!when , how ?"the red head freaked out
" after I healed him , I wasn't sure it worked since he was barely breathing... he looked gone and um-..."
" go on " Pantsy said looking intrigued
" well I was just pleading him to wake up and I kissed him " Ginny and Pantsy gave each other a look . " what ?"
" Hermione you know that only happens with soulemates" Ginny said and she rolled her eyes
" Gin there obviously not real , the children 's storys" she laughed but the two had a very serious look . " don't tell me you believe in that stuff ?"
" I do " Ginny looked over at Pantsy waiting for her response.
" Hermione, ive seen it with my eyes , I witnessed it twice " Hermione gulped " my mom , she saved my dad , he was killed by you know who . She just kissed him and a minute later he was back and I saved Theo while we were fighting in the war "
Hermione looked down at her feet in disbelief.
" Hermione has a soulmate!! " Ginny yelled while jumping on the couch.
" Gin calm down" Pantsy pulled her down . she walked over and sat next to the brown head " Hermione, what's wrong? This is good news "
" I .... I wasn't expecting it ..."
" how do you feel about it ?" She rubbed the girls back
" I-I donno ... I just need to get air ." She got up from the couch and left the commun room .
" Draco's Hermiones soulmate ?" Theo came out of there bed room . The two girls mouths fell wide open .
