"nice butt, hyung."

-

"who's that with you, (y/n)? and why did you come home late in a weekend? with a guy?" he asked sternly which made me freeze.

i couldn't come up with a reason yet, when i should just be telling him the truth. truth gives no harm if guilt isn't present.

however...

i averted my gaze to haechan who was also in the living room, staring at me intently with his hands rubbing against his knees, showing a sign of little anxiety. i then remembered he was the one who gave permission to renjun, and he's totally the one who let the boys dare me on dating him. if i let this slip, the both of us will be killed.

"dad~" haechan suddenly jolted up from the seat, walking towards my father before wrapping his arm around him. "i gave permission to my friend right here, to hang out with your daughter who happens to be also her friend."

if this had happened a month earlier, i will totally spill all the things i know. but right now, if it weren't for renjun, i could've done it.

"donghyuck, i trusted you on your sister during the times we're away," dad spoke, mentioning my brother's real name. haechan is a nickname given by dad when he was younger, and since then, he's been convincing us to call him that. only my parents, and... some girl, can call him by the name donghyuck.

"you did the right thing on trusting me, father." he stood up with his best posture, and placed his firm hand on his forehead. "you see... this guy right here, is the best guy in my circle of friends," he whispered. "well, maybe after mark."

yeah, totally. mark's the best guy in his circle of friends.

renjun and i stood still by the doorway, looking all awkward while watching the both of them talk with each other. my eyes traveling to renjun, i simply sighed, wanting to tell him an apology.

by the moment their attention had diverted to us, i let out a smile to make myself less suspicious although i am actually not. "this is renjun, dad. i didn't get the chance to introduce him to you since you are always away from home."

"good evening, sir," he smiled, taking a step forward with his hand out infron of my father. i was impressed at how formal he was infront of my dad, despite him scanning his face intently. i am just so glad that haechan didn't become like dad entirely when talking about this kind of stuff.

it took him a second to smile back, and accepted renjun's hand to shake. "thank you for walking my daughter home safely." i was baffled on how quick his face had lighten up. as if renjun just spoke to charm his stern treatment.

"ah, my children's friend! please come in." my mother popped up from dad's built body from behind as she welcomed renjun. i was expecting her to hug me after not seeing each other for days, but unfortunately she didn't. she held his shoulder gently to guide him inside, causing him to hesitate.

ah, mom? have you mistaken renjun as your daughter now?

"renjun wasn't planning on staying here, mom. he just walked me home," i spoke up for renjun since i thought he was hesitant on mentioning it to her. she simply gave me a glance before saying, "oh let's just give him some snacks to eat. he can't go home immediately yet."
