"i did it, right? despite the risk of hurting myself, i told you how i feel for you."

-third person's view-

"you good?" mark came to sit down beside renjun who had his attention glued to the fire before him. the place became his favorite as he wrapped himself with his arms to find warmth. he merely gave his friend a stiff nod, his eyes still fixed on the fire.

"i saw the two of you talking earlier. still not on good terms?" mark uttered again, staring at his friend who hadn't changed his facial expression.

"we'll never be," he responded with a cold shoulder.

mark clicked his tongue, averting his eyes to the only source of light in their area. areum was only a few feet away from them, talking with angela and the other girls, yet her eyes were glued on renjun's.

"that's harsh," mark chuckled. "so... is it (y/n) now?" he jerked his elbow onto renjun's hip, causing him to shove his arm away.

"you keep on asking me that," annoyed, he spoke. "you're more interested about the whole thing than the both of us."

"i'm playing cupid, that's why." he held his chin high, and his palm patting his chest. this caused renjun to shake his head in disbelief.

"hey, is the bet going to be worth it?" renjun finally averted his gaze to his friend who had a pathetic grin flashing on his face before dropping it with knitted brows.

"ofcourse. you want to know your first love."

"how about... (y/n)?" renjun started to sense the doubt for mark's bet. although the thought of it had already crossed his mind a couple of times, he couldn't hold himself back but to feel sorry for playing around one's feelings. the depths of his conscience wouldn't stop him from trying to pull him down.

especially that he had already considered (y/n) as one of the friends he treasures.

he didn't expect to take interest of her as time pass by. however, it wasn't that kind of interest falling into the category of "romantic feelings"-- or that's what he thought. he did have an assumption of (y/n)'s impression towards him since the very first time he had laid his eyes on her, and this was what convinced him to not believe jaemin's speculation.

"renjun?" a hand gently tapped his shoulder, causing him to spin around. "oh, you're receiving a bento again?" jaemin's eyes lit up by the second he laid his gaze upon the object renjun was holding.

"yeah," he smiled, staring down on the bento that he just pulled out from his desk. "she made me my favorite food."

with a smile still holding up the corners of renjun's lips, jaemin however, had relinquished  his smile from his face with his forehead creased.

"i don't mean to offend you, but... i don't think areum's the one who's giving that," with his index finger pointing, he said carefully in worry of being misunderstood.

"what do you mean, jaemin?"

"i think the one sending you those is haechan hyung's sister."
