"the reason is just... because," "i don't want to end it yet."
"i still want to spend some more time with you"

-

"what's this mess?" it was renjun who made his way to us through the crowd.

his eyes were the same, void of emotions with his hands tucked inside his pockets. his composure was evident enough with his calmed shoulders, and still eyebrows. he didn't have his eyes on me as i assumed he didn't notice my presence until he diverted his gaze to my direction. that's when i guessed he already felt better without the tired eyes he owned two days ago.

"areum?" he asked, calling out her name as he waited for her answer to his question awhile ago. his eyes were still glued on mine as it trailed down to our hands before boring it to areum who was not uttering anything.

"are you feeling better? i didn't expect you to come to school today," areun worried, not bothering on giving an answer to renjun.

"what is all this fuss about?" he asked again, walking closely to areum.

"just... someone who posted a photo of you and (y/n) on the internet," areum replied, her head hanging low as if she was anxious on renjun's presence.

she then showed the photo to renjun as i observed his reaction. i wasn't expecting anything, but he didn't make a face at all. he doesn't look frustrated as i did.

"who posted this?" he simply asked.

no one answered, and i remained silent. i don't want to do anything right now that will cause trouble infront of me again. sohye behind areum slowly raised her hand, filled with uneasiness.

i reckoned he was about to say something, or do, but he simply took a glimpse at her without a word before diverting his eyes to areum.

"what nonsense did you say again?" he asked. even though he was giving an unreadable expression at the time, but the vibe between us was evidently tensed.

"are you two breaking up?" a voice came from the crowd. "how about sungwon? aren't you going to say something to him?" another followed.

without turning around, renjun's eyes were sharp as he looked at the direction where the voice came from behind him. "i don't like those words," he uttered, still having his back faced at them. "fools only believe words that came from an overly defensive person..." he paused to face the crowd.

"and judge the one who remained silent," he then smirked which caught me off guard. he was pretty scary to be honest. although he didn't say too much to scare us. "don't believe at things that fall with uncertainty in the truth."

"then what about the photo? are you telling us it's not the both of you?"

"i'm not denying it," he responded that made me widen my eyes. "and i will not respond to anything about the made up words about the photo."

for a second there, i was expecting him to say something about our relationship until i remembered we really didn't have one.

"just worry about your own stuff," he suddenly smiled genuinely at the students that made all of them agree, and apologize. "it'll work that way," he added as the crowd sarted walking away.

renjun took a glimpse at us before grabbing areum's wrist, and dragging her through the corridor.

where are they going?
